Olive Ruby Potyra (nee Wheeler) passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home with her friends at her side. She was 90 years of age. Olive was born in Weyburn, SK on August 26, 1923, the third child of Oliver and Clarrissa (nee Wood) Wheeler. Olive loved to knit and crochet. She was especially proud of all the baby toques she knit for the new babies at the hospital. She had great collections of owl memorabilia and teddy bears. Olive lived at Queen Elizabeth Court for 23 years. There she enjoyed the companionship of her many friends, playing cards, shuffle board, doing crafts, gardening and arranging parties and decorating for them. She was a member of the Special Need Transportation Committee. In 2009, as she could no longer manage on her own, she moved to the Nursing Home where she also made many friends and liked to join in all of the activities especially cards, bingos and crafts. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Helen Sweeney and brother, Wilfred Wheeler. She leaves to mourn her passing her sons, Stephen and his wife, Cindy of Edmonton, AB and Paul of Vancouver, BC; her grandsons, Boyd of Red Deer, AB and Nicholas of Saskatoon, SK as well as her good friends, Peter and Karen Eftoda and their children, Michele (David) and their children, Dominic and Faith Evans and Shelley (Joel) and their daughter, Emily Wiebe. In accordance with the wishes of Olive's family, cremation has taken place and a private family cremation committal will take place at a later date.
