Peter was born on the family farm in the Whitesand District on February 24, 1928 and was the eldest son of Wasyl and Maggie (nee Spilchen) Popowich. Peter received his elementary education at Black Poplar School and he spent his early years working on the family farm and later moved to British Columbia to work at a logging camp with his brother, John. Peter eventually came back home and in 1951 he met his future wife, Adeline Kutcher. Peter and Adeline were united in Holy Matrimony at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Yorkton on October 24, 1954. In 1962 they moved their family to Yorkton, where their other three children were born, Kelly in 1964, Glenn in 1966, and Jason in 1981. While living in Yorkton, Peter worked at various jobs with Bill the Builder, Co-op Poultry Plant, St. Joseph's College, and Morris Rod-Weeder. At times, he was self employed in the carpentry field. Peter retired in 1993 at 65 years of age. Peter loved music. He enjoyed nothing more than playing his violin in a band or for friends and family. He also enjoyed carpentry work, fishing, gardening or tinkering around in the garage. Peter is predeceased by his parents, Wasyl in 1977, and Maggie in 1984; brothers, John in 1994, and Paul in 2010; sisters, Olga in 1994, Mary in 2012, and Helen in 2013, and previously by a sister, Rose Marie and by four brothers, Michael, Alex, and twins Ronald and Donald.
