Carl Tony Polegi passed away on September 21, 2013 at Yorkton regional Health Centre. He was 89 years of age. Carl was the first child of Emil and Minnie (Bogdasavich) Polegi and was born on the homestead of his pioneer grandparents at Jedburgh SK. on September 18, 1924. Carl grew up on his parents Jedburgh farmlands with his brother Emil and sisters Francis and Florence. In 1942 prior to his 18th birthday Carl jumped on his bike, road to Yorkton, bought a $1.00 bus ticket to Regina and enlisted in the RCAF. He was trained as an air gunner and spent his air force time stationed throughout the west coast on look out for enemy aircraft. During his air force time in Vancouver he met his first wife Margaret Bauer. Carl and Margaret were married in 1946 and began cattle and grain farming at Jedburgh. Their daughter Darleen was born in 1956. In 1965 Carl moved to Kamloops, BC and began a 23 year career with the CNR. He was intensely proud of his years as a "railroader", but never severed his ties to the land and each year returned to the farm for harvest. Carl married his second wife Raymonde Gauthier in 1979. His life was now enriched by the friendship and caring hearts of Raymonde's six children. In 1992 Carl and Raymonde retired to High Prairie Alberta where they lived until Raymonde's passing in 1998. At that time Carl decided to move back "home" and took residence in Theodore where he could be close to the farm and his brother Emil. Together they drove the fields making sure that everything was as it should be. Dad loved hockey and was a member of the 1956 Jedburgh Eagles provincial championship team. He played ball and was an avid curler. He was a superb dancer; he loved the land, harvest time and supper on the field. He deeply loved family with a special place in his heart for his grandson Dale. Carl was predeceased by his infant son Randy, his wife Raymonde, his parents, sister Francis and brother Emil. He leaves to cherish his memory, his sister Florence, daughter Darleen (Larry) grandson Dale, extended family Roland(Gail)Shauna, Jody, Evangeline(Larry) Steven, Serena, Emily (Bernie) Darren, Roger (Cindy)Adrianne, Jessica, Lindsey, Michelle, Jeanne(Harry) Amy, Mandy, Gerald(Heather), Grant, Natalie as well as great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
