Gerald Parno died peacefully at Norwood Hospice in Edmonton, AB on September 5, 2013 after a yearlong struggle with lung cancer. He was born in Yorkton, SK on May 24, 1957, the youngest child of Edward and Florence Parno. Gerald was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorkton. He attended elementary and high school in Yorkton and traveled and worked across Canada, working most of his adult life in Alberta. Gerald was predeceased by his father, Edward, in 1996. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Florence of Winnipeg; brother, Bruce (Mary) of Carvel, Alberta; sisters, Laura Little and Donna (Don) Engel of Winnipeg; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is also remembered as a gentle kind and caring person by his co-workers at EXEL Foods in Edmonton. The family would like to thank Capital Care Norwood Palliative Hospice for the exceptionally loving care Gerald received there these past two months, Jack and Penny Owen for the many visits and phone calls to Gerald. The family extends its gratitude to David and Connie Bown from EXEL Foods for the pastoral care and friendship given to Gerald and the family these last weeks. A graveside service and interment of ashes will be held at City of Yorkton Cemetery, King Street and Highway 9, Yorkton, SK on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 11:00 am.
