Annie Ostafichuk, beloved wife of Peter Ostafichuk of Canora passed away on May 8, 2013, at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, at the age of 75 years. Annie was born on October 26, 1937, to Peter and Julia (Parnetta) Lozinski. As a young girl, she attended the Badgerdale School. She worked as a nanny for John and Olga Oystrick. Being the eldest of nine, she helped raise two sisters and six brothers, after the early loss of their mother. She then went to work at the Canora Hospital as a nurse's aid, then in the out-patients department helping the doctors and nurses, as well as the CSR (central sterilizing room) for forty-two years, until her retirement in 1997. Peter and Ann were united in marriage on November 12, 1960, in the Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Canora. Together they were blessed with two children: Maynard and Brenda. Ann enjoyed going on summer vacations to visit family and enjoyed going to work the perogie bee on Tuesdays when she could. She was a member of UCWL for over thirty years and was also a member of the hospital auxiliary and president for one year. The highlights of her life were her grandchildren. She also enjoyed going for coffee and visiting with friends. She was a big fan of talking on the phone and having the long distance bundle. Annie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Julia Lozinski; her two brothers: Frank and Stanley Lozinski and her mother and father-in-law John and Anna Ostafichuk. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Peter of Canora; her son, Maynard (Marcy) Ostafichuk of Langenburg; her daughter Brenda Slowski of Saskatoon; her grandchildren: Amy Ostafichuk of Regina, Trinity and Arianna Ostafichuk of Langenburg, Melissa Slowski of Saskatoon, Mallorie Slowski (Logan Sadowick) of Colonsay, SK and Matthew Slowski of Estevan, SK; her sisters: Francis (Jim) Tulik of Warman and Jeanette (Phil) Homan of Calgary, AB; her brothers: John (Donna) Lozinski of Regina, Bernie (Donna) Lozinski of Olds, AB, Walter (Sharon) Lozinski of Strathmore, AB, Jimmy (Shirley) Lozinski of Regina and Albert (Sue) Lozinski of Calgary, AB as well as several half brothers and sisters, a stepsister, nieces and nephews. The Prayer Service was held on Monday, May 13, 2013, from the Chapel of Leson`s Funeral Home, Canora. The Funeral Liturgy was celebrated on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, from the Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Canora, with Rev. Fr. Joakim Rac, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal followed in the Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Canora Hospital Auxiliary, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan or to the Canadian Diabetes Association as tokens of remembrance.
