Mr. Albert Martin Neuman passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, Yorkton, SK. He was 82 years of age. Albert was born on November 10, 1930 in the Tupper District of Saskatchewan, the son of William and Caroline (nee Fandrick) Neumann. He was raised on the family farm in the Tupper District and attended school in the district as well. As a child, Albert enjoyed all aspects of growing up on the farm but especially loved spending time with the farm animals. As a young man, Albert was in a farm accident while cutting wood which left him in a coma. This injury led to medical issues that Albert suffered with his whole life. After Albert's father passed away in 1966, the family farm was sold and Albert and his mother moved into Yorkton. Albert soon became the neighbourhood handyman. He and his mother also spent many hours planting, tending and harvesting a huge garden. In the fall, Albert would venture back to the Tupper district to help his brother, Walter with the harvest. His favorite job was to run the Massey 90 combine - he loved that piece of machinery so much, you could hardly pry him off of it! Although he remained a bachelor his whole life, in the mid-1970's Albert would go through some major life changes. His brother, Walter and his wife, Ruth were blessed with the birth of their son, Walter, Jr. (Wally). Ruth had suffered some complications from the pregnancy and Walter, Sr. was busy on the farm, so Albert and his mother took on the task of raising the newborn. Even after Caroline's death in 1977 (which Albert grieved immensely), he continued to raise Wally into adulthood - being the second parent, and always had lots to say about the way Wally was raised. As he got older, the roles between the two changed with Wally being the caregiver for Albert. Over the last ten years, Albert's health was slowly failing and he became a resident of the Yorkton & District Nursing Home. He remained active to until his last days and was often found folding bibs and helping the other residents with their meals, etc. Throughout his life Albert enjoyed socializing, going for coffee, playing cards, spending time with family and friends and sharing a good joke or wise crack. In his last couple of years, he was ready to pass from this life and always maintained an "I'm going home" attitude which for him meant only positive things. This extended to when Wally would leave after visits to the nursing home. He would always say, "Till next time, see you" and Albert would reply, "You might see me, but I won't see you". Wally is comforted in knowing, that although he is no longer here to physically see him, Albert will be watching over him, always. Albert was predeceased by his parents, William and Caroline; his sister, Lydia Toth and her husband, Joe; his brother, Walter Neumann and his wife, Ruth. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his nephews, Perry (his sons, Brent and Bradley and their mother, Diane Jones), Willie (his wife, Donna and their children, Riley and Tyson); Wally (Natascha Klein and their pets, Teddie and Magoo) and Arnold (his wife, Margaret and their children, Crystal, Paul, Francis and Linda); his niece, Esther (her husband, Bruce Kryba and their children, Carolyn (Joe) and Vince) as well as numerous cousins, other relatives and family members. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Pastor Ken Dressler officiating. The organist, Ruth Datema, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross". A special taped music selection called "Be on My Way" by Zwarte was shared with the congregation. The Interment followed in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Riley Neumann, Tyson Neumann, Brent Neumann, Bradley Neumann, Vince Kryba and Paul Toth serving as the casket bearers. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Christie's Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan
