Mr. Joseph Musey of Yorkton, beloved husband of Mary passed away peacefully with family at his side on November 1, 2013 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. Joseph was born on November 26, 1921 in the Hubbard, district, the eldest of eight children born to Andrew and Maria (nee Batyski) Musyj. Raised on the farm, Joseph had great family values from a early age and a hard work ethic. He worked various jobs and served in the second world war. Upon his return he married the love of his life, Mary Elash on October 17, 1948 in Ituna, SK. The couple were blessed with six beautiful children; Vladimir, Don (Brenda), Raymond (Rene), Doris (Jim), Maryann and Bernice (Dave). He passed on to his children his family values and strong work ethic. Joseph was also blessed with 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren whom he loved spending time with. Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Maria and Andrew and his sons, Vladimir and Raymond. Joseph drove until he was 89 years of age, at which time he gave up his van for his Cadillac (scooter). He loved to hunt, fish and play cards. He also was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #77. He will be missed by all who knew him. His warm smile, positive attitude and little jokes touched many hearts and won't be forgotten. A Prayer Service was held on Sunday, November 3, 2013 and Requiem Divine Liturgy on Monday, November 4, 2013 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Peter Pidskalny, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The responses were led by Ed Pindus, Colette Karapita & parish choir members. Serving as cross bearers were Myron Musey, Jillian Wasylynka and Kaitlyn Wasylynka. The epistle reader was Alfred Musey. The honorary pallbearers were Larry Musey, Gerry Musey, Glen McIvor & all those who were touched by Joseph's life. A Legion Burial Rite was conducted by members of The Royal Canadian Legion, General Alexander Ross Branch #77 . The interment took place in the Garden of Gethsemane at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Michael Hitchens, Mark Hitchens, Matthew Hitchens, Russell Musey, Mitchell Hitchens and Ryan Musey serving as the casket bearers. Memorials honouring Joseph's life may be made to St. Mary's Church Building Fund or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
