MORRIS - Lorne Edward

Lorne Edward Morris was born on November 7, 1926 on the family farm near Bangor, SK in the Llewelyn Community. Lorne was the first son born to Bill and Maggie (nee Roberts) Morris. He attended Llewelyn School. Lorne took great pride in farming with his brother Bob for 56 years. You would find Hereford cattle, Allis Chalmers farm equipment and of course Morris Implements on the Morris Brothers Farm. On October 3, 1959, Lorne and Beatrice (nee Lee) were united in marriage. They raised their two children on the same farm that Lorne was born on. Lorne was very active in his community. He was involved in the Bangor Heritage Club for 20 years, the Bangor 4-H Multiple Club, the Men's Welsh Choir and Llewelyn Community Club. He also served on the Morris Lodge Board for 30 years and Wheat Pool Committee as well. He had many stories about playing hockey on the Llewelyn Blackhawks hockey team, the Llewelyn ball team and Llewelyn broomball team with his brothers, Bob and Harvey. A proud Welshman, Lorne also had a great love for horses, enjoyed curling, playing crib and his antique farm equipment. Lorne passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville, SK surrounded by his loving family. He was 86 years of age. Lorne was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Maggie; his brother, Harvey and his nephew, Bill Morris. Lorne leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and beloved wife of 53 years, Beatrice; his treasured son, Kevin; his caring daughter, Adele (Robert) Flavel of Regina, SK; two precious grandsons, Nolan and Curtis; one brother, Bob (Elinor) Morris of Yorkton; seven nieces and nephews as well as numerous cousins and friends. A Prayer Service was held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Shelly Morris officiating. The Funeral Services were held on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Reverend Susan Griffith officiating. The readings were shared by Robert Flavel and Kirk Morris. The organist, Mr. Lorne Neal, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Bringing in the Sheaves" and "All Through the Night" and played the Welsh National Anthem as a recessional piece. The Interment Service followed in the Llewelyn Cemetery with Blair Morris, Doug Morris, Barry Hilton, Brian Roberts, Allan Bolton and Rob Sax serving as casket bearers.
