Adella "Della" Merkley passed away peacefully on February 4, 2015 at Porteous Lodge in Saskatoon, SK. Della was born on June 10, 1927, the daughter of Effie and Bill Worniuk at the family farm near Insinger, SK. She received her education at Lesanko School near Insinger. Della went on to work at various jobs including housekeeping and a nurses' aide. She was united in marriage to Harold Merkley on July 15, 1950 and the couple settled on the farm near Theodore, SK. They lived at the farm for a few years and then moved into a house in Theodore where she remained up until last year. Della and Harold were blessed with three children, Blair born in 1954, Noella in 1955 and Billy in 1959. Della loved gardening and she just couldn't wait for spring to come around so she could start working on her gardens. She was also a member of the United Church for many years. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren immensely and was always eager and looking forward to their visits. Della also had many nieces and nephews who she admired greatly. She took the time to do some travelling and visited many places around the world. Della was also known for being an excellent cook, her specialties were perogies and cabbage rolls. She would always make sure you never went hungry when you were around her. Della gave birth to twin boys, Lyle and Lorne who passed away shortly after birth. She was also predeceased by her sons, Blair in 1975, Billy in 1976, her husband Harold in 1980 and siblings: John, Bernie, Matt, Helen, Doris, Evelyn, Katie, Mary and Jean. She leaves to mourn her passing her brother, Irving of Red Deer, AB; her daughter, Noella (Lawrence); her granddaughter, Crystal (Cory) of Colonsay, SK, her grandson, Jodie (Lacey) of Saskatoon, SK and her grandson, Jamie (Lyse) of Saskatoon, SK. She will also be missed by her three great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Holly from Colonsay, SK and Kayden from Saskatoon, SK. Della will be sadly missed and forever loved by all those that new her. Funeral Services were held on Monday, February 9, 2015 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home with Reverend Jen Dresser (of St. Andrew's United Church) officiating. Special taped music selections included; a selection of Ukrainian Dance Music as a prelude, "Amazing Grace" as sung by Alan Jackson, "I Did It My Way" as sung by Frank Sinatra and "Abide With Me" as sung by Daniel O'Donnell. The Interment Service followed in the Theodore Village Cemetery with Jodie Kucheran, Jamie Kucheran, Bruce Frederickson, Grant Frederickson, Doug Ukrainetz and Tim Woroniuk serving as the casket bearers.
