Ivy Mayer

Ivy Mayer, beloved wife of the late Norm Mayer, passed away in the early hours of July 16, 2016. She was 77 years of age. Ivy was born on July 6, 1939 in Grenfell, SK, the daughter of John and Grace (nee Richardson) Wilson. In 1957, Ivy married Norm Mayer and they were blessed with two daughters, Cindy and Sandra. Ivy loved spending time with her family and her "coffee buddies". Her eyes would light up when her great-grandchildren came to visit. Even though they weighed almost half as much as she did, she insisted on picking them up and giving them a squishy hug every time. The kids knew they were going to get mini marshmallows and popcorn curls when they got to Great-Gramma's house. Ivy took pride in her beautiful long fingernails and two weeks before her passing, her granddaughter, Heidi gave her the treat of her life with a manicure and pedicure. She had flowers on her fingernails and jewels on her toes and could hardly wait to get home from Alberta to show her nails off to all her friends. As her children commented, "Mom is definitely going to meet Dad all dolled up!". Ivy was predeceased by her husband, Norm; her parents, John and Grace Wilson; her parents-in-law, John and Elizabeth Mayer; as well as her siblings and siblings-in-law, Carlie Wilson, Joan Wilson, Keith Barnes, Evelyn (George) Exner, Theresa (Johnny) Ottenbreit, Victoria (Alios) Ottenbreit, Fred (Vi) Mayer, Gordon (Dawn) Mayer, Peter Mayer, Gary (Helen) Mayer, Jim Mayer and Art Lowenberg. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her daughter, Cindy (Gerhard) Pelzer of Balgonie, SK and Sandra (Ed) Kuntz of Grayson, SK; grandsons, Myron (Heidi) Kuntz of Pigeon Lake, AB and Devin Kuntz of Grayson, SK; great-grandchildren, Ava, Walker, Vaida and Ollie; her sisters, Mabel (Norm) Lockie, Margaret Barnes; brother, David (Cheryl) Wilson; her sisters-in-law, Agnes (Lawrence) Bender and brother-in-law, Joe Mayer as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, July 22, 2016 from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton, SK with Father Francis Hengen officiating. The readers were Al Kuntz and Kim Lockie and the Gift Bearers were Jeff and Michelle Kuntz. The Urn Bearer was Ivy's grandson, Myron Kuntz. The Cremation Committal will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Grayson, SK at a later date. Friends so wishing may make Mass Offerings or donations in Ivy's memory to St. Mary's Cemetery Fund, Grayson, SK.
