Mr. George Makortoff of Yorkton passed away February 10, 2015 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 83 years of age. George Makortoff, was born January 11, 1931 on the family farm near Kamsack, SK, a son of Fred and Dora (nee Rezansoff) Makortoff. He attended McGillvary School and Kamsack High School. He attended the University of Saskatoon for 1 year. George worked in Toronto and Calgary and finally settled in Edmonton where he worked as a metal worker. In later years when his health began to fail he moved to Yorkton to be closer to family. His hobbies were fishing, dancing and travelling. He visited many places in Canada and the U.S., including the World Fair in Seattle. He enjoyed going for walks, watching T.V., especially the Discovery channel and the world news. He also enjoyed reading the Bible. George was predeceased by his parents Fred and Dora Makortoff, brother Fred and sister Lorna Rurak, nephew Melvin Trafananko and brother-in-law Tom Trafananko. He is survived by his sister Anne Trafananko, brother-in-law Matt Rurak, nieces Karen Rurak, Janice Rurak and Louise (Blaine) Harlow. Great-nephews; Kevin Harlow, Derek (Karissa) Harlow, niece Koren Harlow and Great-Great-niece, Elena Harlow, daughter of Derek and Karissa. A graveside service was held on February 17, 2015 at the Riverview Cemetery in Kamsack with Rev. Mark Hammond officiating.
