Mr. Matt Litwin of Yorkton, formerly of the Parkerview district, beloved husband of Olga passed away on May 6, 2015 at the Regina General Hospital at the age of 83 years. Matt Daniel Litwin was born on July 15, 1931 in the Beckenham area. At the young age of 8 years he moved with his family to a farm near Parkerview. Matt attended Chiselhurst School. Since his father was a blacksmith in Parkerview, Matt worked with his mom clearing 8 acres of bush in one summer by hand. In January 1953 Matt met the love of his life, Olga Kozakewich and they were married in November. In 1954 rust had ruined his crop which forced Matt to go to work in a mine at McKenzie Island, ON. Matt and Olga were blessed with five children, Janet, Theresa, Lucy, Murray and Jeannie. Matt continued to live on the farm until 1998 when the two of them moved to Yorkton but still made weekly trips to the farm. Matt was a very hard working man who enjoyed farming very much. He will be missed by many. A Prayer Service was held on Friday, May 8, 2015 and the Funeral Liturgy on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Fr. Methodius Kushko, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The responses were led by Ed Pindus and parish choir members. The cross bearer was Norman Litwin and the epistle reader was Janet Holowaty. The interment took place in the Garden of Gethsemane at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Drew Litwin, Allan Millham, Jeff Wasyluk, Alex Baranesky, Rusty Tamblyn and Mike Litwin serving as the casket bearers. Crystal Litwin conveyed reflections of Matt's life. Memorials honoring Matt's life may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to Liturgy Offerings. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.baileysfuneralhome.com.
