Mrs. Mary Lemchuk of Yorkton, wife of the late John Lemchuk entered eternal rest on April 4, 2015 at the age of 101. Mary Amy was born on December 4, 1913, on the farm at Fone Hill to Mike and Anastasia Smerchynski. She went to Radimno School. She worked on the home farm when she was a young girl. She married John Lemchuk on November 15, 1936. They were blessed with a son, Raymond on May 19, 1939. They continued to farm at Willowbrook, where she enjoyed gardening and feeding their animals. She was a member of the Willowbrook Ukrainian Catholic Ladies Club. Mary & John retired to Yorkton in l962 where she always had a beautiful garden. Her garden produced enough vegetables to give away to family and friends. Mary was an avid reader of the Bible and newspaper. She could read and write in Ukrainian and English. Mary was concerned about the world situation, especially the Ukraine & Poland. She also belonged to St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Women's League of Yorkton for many years. Her husband John predeceased her in April, l982. She lived in her own house until February, 2006. She moved into Angel Care Home in February, 2006 to November, 2008, at which time she went to live at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home, residing there until her death. She loved baking cookies with the Activity Director, Jacquie at the Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her husband John, sister Sophie, sister Mary in infancy, brothers Frank & John, sister-in-law Annie, brothers-in-law Mike and Matt, nephew Clark Pacholka, step-grandchildren Shirley Ann and Lorne Schoenroth. She is survived by her son Raymond and his wife Arlene and daughter Mary Lee (Ron) Kelley, daughter Michaleen (Marvin) DeRuigh, their children Bailey and Brandon, step-daughter Bonnie (Clarence) Gruber, their children Andrew, Garrett, Hannah, sister Julia Pacholka and her children, son Dean (Dianne) Pacholka, daughter Janice (Bob) Northey, daughter Judy. Julia's grandchildren Dory (Annette), Deavy Pacholka, Clark and Lauren Northey. Mary is also survived by many other relatives and friends. The Funeral Service was held on Monday, April 13, 2015 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Father Methodius Kushko, C.Ss.R. officiating. The responses were led by Ed Pindus & St. Mary's Choir members. The gospel reading & tribute was given by Rev. Fred Schneider. The interment followed in the Garden of Crucifixion at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Bob Northey, Dean Pacholka, Larry Lazurko, Clarence Kobylka, Brian Pedde and Gary Kowal serving as the casket bearers.
