Caroline Ann "Carol" Lang Loewen (nee Wilkinson) was born on August 14, 1943, the daughter of William "Bill" and Elsa (nee Fookes) Wilkinson. Carol's brother is Jack (Lynn - nee Lee) and her sister is Adelle (Will) Wytrykush. Carol married Jack Lang on March 7, 1959. They had three children, Mitchell Lang (Shanda Mae Grimshaw), Dean Lang (Loretta Kentz) and Tracy Speidel (Jason Kidd). Carol has ten grandchildren, Jessie Lang, Michelle Lang, Chris Leibrecht, Jonathon Leibrecht, Tyler Lang, Shelby Lang, Kelsey Lang, Tanner Lang, Bailey Speidel and Logan Speidel. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren. Carol and Jack worked their family farm for many years, then moved to Willowbrook and later to Yorkton. Carol worked as an Aide in the Yorkton & District Nursing Home and then the Yorkton Regional Health Centre in C.S.D. for many years. She loved her work and the people she worked with, but she was forced to leave her job because of the onset of fibro-myalgia. After the loss of Carol's first husband, Jack Lang on December 26, 1999 she was blessed to meet Jack Loewen (she had something for the name Jack!), who was a friend and neighbour of her first husband years earlier. They began having tea together because he had suffered the loss of his wife. They were married on August 14, 2002 and Carol gained another daughter, Jodi and son-in-law, Len McCutcheon and three more grandchildren, Cara, Lee and Melissa. Carol's family also expanded with more sisters and brothers-in-law and their families. Carol and Jack had 13 years together and when her health was better they enjoyed quite a few good trips, but when Carol's health deteriorated, their trips became shorter and included visiting with family. Jack always had a smile and a joke to keep Carol's spirits up and she lovingly referred to him as "my Jack". Carol had a very lengthy and debilitating illness (Progressive Super Nuclear Palsy) but her mind remained sharp through it all. Jack took such wonderful care of her and treated her with so much love and respect. He left her dignity intact when illness can be so cruel. They were very happy together even through the tough times. Carol entered the hospital on October 4, 2013 with pneumonia and while she was there she suffered a heart attack/stroke. She passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends - none more so than her beloved "Jack". There will be a grave side service on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. from the Yorkton City Cemetery, Yorkton, Saskatchewan. A gathering at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Yorkton, SK will follow for all to attend to share some food and some memories. n lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Progressive Nuclear Palsy (cheques may be made payable to R.U.H.
