Jan Lahti. June 4, 1965 - July 16, 2015. We are stunned and heartbroken over Jan's sudden and unexpected passing. Her husband and daughters, Todd, Dana and Claire were the centre of her universe and she continues to be the centre of theirs. Jan also leaves her mother, Donna (Craigie) Kitsch of Saltcoats, SK; sister Rhonda Lyle (Dale, Ben, Travis) of Portage la Prairie, MB; sister Moira Warke (Andrew, Jordyn, Caeleigh) of Edmonton, AB and her family on Todd's side, Sharon, Michelle and Jay Lahti and their families. She was predeceased by her father Ewald Kitsch in 1997. Jan was born in Yorkton, SK in 1965 and grew up in nearby Saltcoats. She attended elementary school in Saltcoats and high school in Yorkton. She received her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1987 and then moved to Calgary to work with the accounting firm, Coopers & Lybrand. She achieved her Chartered Accountant designation in 1990. Shortly after moving to Calgary, Jan and Todd found each other and were married in Saskatoon in 1991. They then moved to Bermuda, where Jan worked at the Price Waterhouse accounting firm until Dana's arrival in 1995. Wishing to raise their children closer to home, Jan and Todd returned to Saskatoon in 1997. Claire followed in 1998 and while Jan continued to work part-time from home, her primary focus was supporting and promoting her children's academic, athletic and musical pursuits. Numerous volunteer organizations benefited from Jan's countless hours of diligent dedication. Jan was an avid sports fan and was the resident source of statistics and trivia for her friends and family. She enjoyed nature, particularly at her acreage and in the many preserves around Naples, Florida, where she and her family religiously trekked each winter. We will miss you Janny. You shaped your girls and husband more than you know. You were taken from us too soon, but will always be with us. Our family is grateful to the staff at the Royal University Hospital Coronary Care Unit for their incredible care and professionalism. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes can be made to the RUH Coronary Care Unit or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A Memorial Service took place on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Acadia-McKague's Funeral Centre, 915 Acadia Drive in Saskatoon. Lunch and a time of sharing memories followed. Arrangements entrusted to Acadia-McKague's Funeral Centre.
