KROTENKO - Ivy Krotenko of Lakeside Manor Care Home in Saltcoats, SK, and formerly of Yorkton and Stenen, SK, passed away on September 17, 2012, at the age of 85 years. Ivy was born on September 8, 1927, to John and Anne (Zaichkowski) Nesdoly, in Blaine Lake, SK. As a young girl, Ivy attended the Blaine Lake School until grade eight. She worked at an egg grading station and a retail store. She could add a column of numbers like we use a calculator. Her favorite board game was scrabble (Try and beat her if you could!) In 1951, she met a handsome man, Louis Krotenko from Stenen. On July 1st, in that same year they were united in marriage and together they were blessed with three children: Marianne, Edwin and Ellen. She used to say the whole of Canada celebrated their anniversary. The family lived on a farm south of Stenen until 1998, when they moved to Yorkton. Ivy was involved in the Hyas Baptist Church, the ladies group, youth group, Sunday school and choirs. She directed many Christmas concerts and cantatas. She was well known for her beautiful gardens and flowers on the farm, she showed entries in the Horticulture shows and took home many trophies for her entries. There was always a cup of tea ready in her kitchen and dessert to go with it. Ivy will be remembered for her kindness and love. She adored her children and grandchildren, but she especially loved her great-grandchildren, they were her special angels. Ivy was predeceased by her parents, John and Anne and her husband, Louis in 2005. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Marianne (Ej) Foley of Calgary, AB, Edwin (Lynn) Krotenko of Canora, SK, and Ellen Krotenko of Yorkton, SK; her grandchildren: Racheal (Justin), Lance (Linda), Luke (Kim), Kurtis (Kelly), Jordan (Blaire), Kendra (Brandon) and Harley; her great-grandchildren: Jerika, Rilyn, Brooklyn,
Keaton, Logan, Jackson, Will and a baby due in November and her sister Esther in Ft. Worth and her brother Samuel in Victoria B.C. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., from the Chapel of Leson's Funeral Home, Canora, SK, with Pastor Brian Kirsch, officiating. The interment followed in the Stoney Creek Cemetery, between Hyas and Stenen, SK.
