Paul J. Koshman, Beloved husband of Anne (nee Dareichuk), passed away peacefully with family by his side on August 17, 2012, at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 94 years of age. Paul was born on the family farm in the Canora district on March 25, 1918 to John and Mary (nee Demchuk) Koshman, the eldest of five children. Paul received his education at Ebenezer School, after which he went to work on farms, a bridge crew and lumber camps. He met Anne Dareichuk in 1942, and they married June 19, 1949. They purchased two quarters of land in the Insinger area and began farming and raising their family: Norman born in 1952 and Barry born in 1958. In 1961 they purchased another quarter where they then built their new home in 1962. Paul loved farming, fishing, socializing with neighbors, and loved to play cards, shuffleboard and shoot pool. In 1988 Paul and Anne retired and bought a home in Theodore, SK. They resided there until Sept., 2009 when they moved to Queen Elizabeth Court in Yorkton, SK. Paul became ill in November of 2009. He had major surgery in December whereafter he became a resident of Anderson Village at the Yorkton and District Nursing Home until his passing. Paul was predeceased by his mother in 1972, his father in 1977, mother-in-law Katy Dareichuk in 1969, and father-in-law Wasyl Dareichuk in 1981; brother-in-law John Podhorski in 1979, sister-in-law Mary Podhorski in 1998, brother-in-law Bill Dareichuk in 2009, brother-in-law Fred Holowka in 1995, sister Anna Holowka in 2005, brother William in 2006, brother-in-law Robert Summers in 2012 and brother-in-law Henry Basiuk in 2012. Paul leaves to cherish his memory his wife Anne of 63 years of marriage; his two sons, Norman (Karen) of Yorkton, their children Greg of Yorkton, Terry (Kathy) of Yorkton, and Ryan (Eileen) and only great-grandchild Jacob of Saskatoon; son Barry (Wendy) of Insinger, their children Bradie of Pelican Narrows, SK, Darbie (Amanda) of Rosthern, SK and Korby (Nicole) of Foam Lake. Paul is also survived by brother Nick (Marge) of Yorkton, and sister Ollie Summers of Airdrie, AB; sister-in-law Violet Koshman of Ebenezer plus numerous nephews and nieces. The Prayer Service was held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 and the Funeral Service on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. The responses led by Gerald Yaholnitsky assisted by members of the Parish Choir. The crossbearer was Linda McCullough (niece). Everyone who shared in Paul's life were considered as honourary pallbearers. The interment followed in the Garden of St. Luke at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Grandsons, Greg Koshman, Terry Koshman, Ryan Koshman, Bradie Koshman, Darbie Koshman and Korby Koshman serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in memory of Paul may be made to St. Nicholas Cemetery Fund, Drobot or a charity of choice as gifts of remembrance.
