Anne Konkel, daughter of George and Katrina (Todoschuk) Semenuik, was born May 1, 1926 in the Rhein district of Saskatchewan. Anne attended elementary school in Rhein and helped on the family farm. On September 15, 1946 Anne was united in marriage to Reinhardt Konkel, the love of her life, whom she met while spending time at her sister Polly's farm. They lived, worked and raised their family together on the Konkel family farm, located near the Whitesand River in the Theodore district from 1946 until 1982, when they moved into Springside. Anne was not afraid to tackle anything. After the boys left home Anne would drive the grain truck, loaded to the hilt and haul grain at harvest time. Anne raised turkeys, chickens and along with Reinhardt, looked after the cattle she loved. She planted a huge garden and shared all the bountiful produce with family and friends. Perogies, cabbage rolls, doughnuts and buns were always at the ready and the best you ever had! You would never leave her home empty handed, nor would she arrive without bringing something. In her retirement she became very involved with the Baptist Church, joining ladies groups, prayer groups and teaching Pioneer Girls. She continued to have a large garden in town and enjoyed playing card games and dominos with friends and family. She also learned to golf, enjoyed going fishing and joined a senior's bowling league in Yorkton. Anne was always on the go. Anne's faith in God was unshakeable, she lived to serve God through her love and kindness to all. Anne was one of the most kind and generous people you would ever have the good fortune to meet. She was forever the optimist, no matter what was happening, Anne would say, "well, it could be worse". She made the best of any situation and always looked on the bright side. Her sense of humour was second to none, her ability to laugh, at herself mostly, was one of her most endearing qualities. Anne would drop everything, at a moments notice, to help family and friends. She gave everyone the benefit of the doubt and never uttered an unkind word. Anne's greatest pride and joy was her family. She loved having her children and grandchildren come to visit. She never tired of cooking feasts and having company. Her family adored her and were blessed to have her as a mom, grandma and great-grandma. She loved to spend time babysitting her grandchildren and we're not sure who was more disappointed when it was time for grandma to go home! Poor health forced Anne to move into the Kamsack Nursing Home in 2010. The staff soon fell in love with her. Illness may have stolen her memory, but it could not take her kindness and patience for others. She was always concerned about the other residents. Anne was a hardworking, kind, patient and brave woman. Her smile, laughter and sense of humor lit up the world. She passed away peacefully on September 16, 2014 at the nursing home. Anne will lovingly be remembered by her son, Larry (Debra), their children, Jeremy (Rachelle), Shanna (Ward) and Jordan (Julie), son, Gerald (Sandra), their children, Chad (Alison), Gavin (Chantel) and Amy; son, Terry (Sandy), his children, Tracy (Brent) and Tamsen (Wes), as well as their mother, Louise Krahenbil; daughter, Deb (Bryan), their children, Jared and Kelby; Great-grandchildren, Linden and Payten (Tracy), Nyla and Tyan (Tamsen), Chase, Cohen and Jake (Chad) and Lauchlan and Kova (Gavin); Sister, Polly Smeretsky and sister-in-law, Pauline Semenuik.
