Leona Elizabeth Kitz (nee Wagner) passed away on January 7, 2014 at the Wallace House of the Yorkton & District Nursing Home, Yorkton, SK. She was 88 years of age. Leona was born on April 17, 1925 in MacNutt, SK, the oldest of four children born to Philip and Dorothy (nee Metz) Wagner. She was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She completed Grade Eight at Zorn School. Leona worked for neighbouring families until she married Edwin Kitz on June 11, 1944. As Edwin's new wife, she spent some time at various military stations during his army training, preparing him for active duty in World War II. Following his discharge from the army, they purchased some land in the Landestreu District where they farmed until Edwin passed away in the spring of 1982. Leona was a very hard working woman. She helped with the over-all operation of the farm. She milked many cows, raised chickens and turkeys, was a fabulous cook and grew a large garden and took great pride and joy in growing flowers. After Edwin's passing, Leona sold the farm and made a new home for herself on McNeil Crescent in Yorkton where she continued with her special interest in growing beautiful flowers. Leona enjoyed living in the city. She shared her home and many good times with her special friend, Morley Moore. As a result of his relationship, she was adopted by his family as a grandmother and step-mother. After Morley's passing, life became lonely and difficult for Leona. In December of 2011, she moved to the Gladstone Seniors Residence. Unfortunately, health issues created problems for her and she moved to Jowsey and then Wallace House in the Yorkton & District Nursing Home where she resided until her passing. Leona was a very outgoing person. She enjoyed curling, loved to dance, visit and entertain people in her home. Very active in her church community, Leona worked with the Ladies Aid Group and taught Sunday School. Leona leaves to mourn her passing, her brother, Elwood Wagner (Grace) of Regina, SK; her brother, Wilf (Doris) Wagner of Kelowna, BC; her sister, Janice Wagner (Ivan) of Yorkton, SK; her nephews, Rod (Cheryl) Wagner of Grenfell, SK, Brent (Brenda ) Wagner of Clavet, SK and Barton Legebokoff of Kimberly, BC; her nieces, Gwen Malin, Sheila (Barry) Sedgewick of Lethbridge, AB, Charlene (Craig) Mills of Edmonton, AB, Denise Legebokoff (Dave) of LaRonge, SK; numerous great nieces and nephews; one aunt, Frieda Mensch of Watrous, SK; sisters-in-law, Natalie Kitz of Langenburg, SK and Rita Kitz of Regina, SK and numerous nieces and nephews from the Kitz family; John and Flora Moore and their children, Matthew, Andrew, Trinity and Michael of Yorkton, SK and others members of Morley Moore's family as well as special friends, Dale Werner, Margaret Kitz and Vi Schappert. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 from the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Daniel Moeller officiating. The organist, Verna Liebrecht, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", "Just as I Am" and "God Will Take Care of You". A reception followed in the Zion Lutheran Church Hall where nephew, Rodney Wagner shared words of tribute and eulogy on behalf of Leona's family.
