Peacefully, on Monday, November 5, 2012, Mary passed away at the Weber House, Yorkton and District Nursing Home, Yorkton, SK. Mary was born in Insinger, SK on November 20, 1920. She was the daughter of Nicholas and Anne Pasowesty. She was raised on the family farm and attended Wolkowitz School. Mary was very handy at sewing and knitting. She enjoyed berry and mushroom picking and preserving her garden produce. Mary took pride in her flowers, winning many awards on Jubilee Crescent. Playing "Bingo" was another favorite pastime. Mary enjoyed the company of her family and friends. She was proud of her family's accomplishments. One wall in her room at the Nursing Home was full of pictures of her "Family". She always remembered to phone them on birthdays and anniversaries. Mary will be missed and lovingly remembered by them all. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Mike; her parents, Nicholas and Anne and by her grandson, David. Saddened family members include her daughters, Sylvia (Norbert) Vandenbossche
and Olga Kirunchyk; her grandchildren, Christine (Don) Scott, Alan Vandenbossche, Garry (Cindy) Vandenbossche, and Mark Kirunchyk; her great grandchildren, Matthew, Michael and Sara Scott, Alexa, Eva and Jenna Vandenbossche, Nicolas Vandenbossche, and Ava Kirunchyk; a very special friend, Calla Effa as well as many other relatives and good friends she treasured throughout her lifetime. Funeral Services were held on Friday, November 9, 2012 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Father Peter Pidskalny, C.Ss.R. officiating. The Responses were led by Mr. Ed Pindus and members of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Choir. The Interment Service followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery, Yorkton, SK. The pallbearers, Mark Kirunchyk, Olga Kirunchyk, Christine Scott, Don Scott, Norbert Vandenbossche, and Dr. Jack Junek, carried her to Mary final resting place. The family respectfully requests, that in lieu of flowers, please give someone a hug or do a favor for someone today in honour and in memory of the love that Mary shared with those around her. The family would also like to express their gratitude to the Staff of Weber House at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home who cared for Mary with compassion and kindness. Accordingly, friends so wishing may make donations in Mary's memory to the Yorkton & District Nursing Home - Activity Department as tokens of remembrance.
