Dan Karutsky of Sturgis, SK, passed away peacefully at the Yorkton Union Hospital on October 15, 2014, with his family by his side, at the age of 95 (2 weeks short of 96). He was born on November 1, 1918 in Philadelphia, PA to John & Mary (Werny) Karutsky. Dan was predeceased by his grandmother Emily Werny (1954); parents John (1962) and Mary Karutsky (1973); in-laws John Soyko (1969) and Annie Soyko (1989); siblings Paul Karutsky (infancy), Lydia (Leland) Wallberg (1969), Adella (Fred) Zubko (2010); son Gerald Karutsky ( September 1967) at age 17; grandson Chase Andrew Kraynick (May 2011) age 6. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Doris Karutsky (of 69-1/2 years); daughters Judie (Matt) Bernat, Darlene (Andy) Oystryk, Connie ( Brian) Jakubowski, Debbie (Brad) Sweeney; sisters Carmelita (Ken) Fernets, Aloma (Laddie) Shchyschuk; grandchildren Giselle (Harold) Frieze, Shawna (Jamie) Stangel, Darcy (Marie-Eve) Bernat, Naomi (Damon) Paley, Corelie (Rod) Heise, Rachel (Clinton) Kraynick, Rhonda (Todd) Bailey, Amanda (Adam) Daviduk, Aaron (Melanie) Sweeney, Carrie Sweeney, Taylor Jakubowski; great-grandchildren, Austin Varga, Tavis Varga, Karley Stangel, Bailey Stangel, Everett Paley, Devon Paley, Luke Bailey, Jeremy Bailey, Cooper Kraynick, Coy Kraynick, Hannah Heise, Jolie Heise, Jasmin Frieze and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Funeral services were held on Monday, October 20, 2014 at the Sturgis Community Hall at 11 a.m. with sons-in-law Andy Oystryk, Brian Jakubowski and Brad Sweeney officiating. Interment followed in the Sturgis Community Cemetery. Preeceville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
