Robert Allen (Bob) Hunter. 1928 - 2015. The family of Bob Hunter advises that he passed peacefully on February 17 at the age of 86, in Nanaimo, BC. He is survived by loving wife Marjorie (Marj), his four children, Susan (Dan) Haslam of Nanaimo, BC, Graeme (Susan) Hunter of Regina, SK, Glen (Cathy) Hunter of Edmonton, AB, Ian (Sonja) Hunter of Calgary, AB, eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter as well as his sister Joy (Alex) Sutherland of Victoria, BC. He was predeceased by his brother George Hunter of Calgary, AB. Bob was a long-time employee of SaskTel, a proud member of a shrinking group of people who spent their entire career with a single company. He started with SaskTel in Saskatoon, SK, working the first half of his career in construction, installs and servicing. The latter half started with a move to Yorkton, SK where Bob worked as a rural rep on the conversion of small party line exchanges to single line phones. After retirement in 1983, Bob and Marj enjoyed winters in Texas, playing golf and bridge with their many winter Texan friends. When travel to Texas was no longer feasible Bob and Marj moved to Qualicum Beach, BC where they enjoyed the mild climate. Bob remained in relatively good health and spirits til the end. He struggled in his later years with breathing issues which ultimately overcame him. He died peacefully with his daughter Susan at his side. We are thankful that Dad lived as long and as well as he did and are happy that he's now resting in peace. At Dad and Mom's request there will be no funeral. At some future point we will have a joint family memorial for both Dad and Mom after which their ashes will be scattered according to their wishes. We request no flowers or other remembrances; a toast to Bob at your convenience would be a nice gesture. We miss you Dad, rest in peace.
