Mervin Earl Hunt was born to Mansel and Bella (nee McCoy) Hunt on August 31, 1937 in Lintlaw, SK. He started his work career as a telegraph operator for the CNR. When the rail road began automating the communications, he gained employment with Western Grocers (and later SunSpun) in Yorkton, where he worked until his retirement. He met Pat Chornomud and the couple were married on August 28, 1965. They shared 47 years of happy marriage before Mervin's passing on March 30, 2013 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, Yorkton, SK at the age of 75 years. In his early years, Mervin was very active in sports and played softball for some of Saskatchewan's most reputable teams. Mervin will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour. Mervin was predeceased by his parents, Mansel and Bella as well as his parents-in-law, George and Mary Chornomud. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat; his two sisters, Alive Fitzpatrick of Brooks, AB and Inez Jacobson of Red Deer, AB as well as many other relatives and good friends. In accordance with Mervin's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family cremation committal will take place at a later date.
