Mary Theresa Hudy (nee Miskolczi) entered her eternal rest on Sunday, December 15, 2013, one week after celebrating her 94th birthday. Mary was born on December 8, 1919 in Howell, SK, now known as Prud'homme. She was the second oldest of ten children born to Steve and Theresa (nee Simon) Miskolczi. She attended Houghton Lake School until the age of 16, when she went to work at the General Store in Prud'homme. Mary loved to sew, so she took a two year course in Pattern Design and Dressmaking. In later years, this would come in handy as she sewed clothes for herself, her three sons, her four granddaughters and even her neighbours. Mary and some of her sewing class mates went to British Columbia to pick fruit. In 1945, while at a dance at Cultus Lake, BC she met Felix Hudy, a soldier from the army base. After a brief courtship, they were married on October 6, 1945 in Chilliwack, BC. A few months later, he was discharged from the army and they returned to their roots in Saskatchewan and started farming. Mary helped out on the farm and you could find her milking cows, hauling grain and planting a big garden. She loved cooking and baking, jam-jam cookies and retes were her favorites. Her flower beds overflowed with colorful plants. Mary loved to play cards, and if no one was around to play with her, she played solitaire. All her kids and grandkids have many of her afghans and quilts which she loved making. Mary loved to go dancing and at even while living in the nursing home she could be seen on the dance floor with her wheel chair Mary and Felix spent many winters traveling with friends across Canada, the USA and abroad. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed going for coffee with her "special" friends who came to pick her up everyday and later they would come to the nursing home to get her. Mary retired from the farm, to Melville in 2005. In 2010 she moved to the Heritage House and in 2012 she made her final move to St. Paul's Lutheran Home. Mary leaves to mourn her passing her son, Ronald (Geraldine) of Melville, SK, Linus (Christine) of Melville, SK and Greg (Cathy) of Regina, SK; her grandchildren, Marlene (Trent) Werner of Springside, SK, Darlene (Brad) Guenther of Yorkton, SK, Melanie (Shawn) Lachowsky of Kindersley, SK, Jennifer (Kevin) Radloff of Nipawin, SK, Mitchell (Karly) Hudy of Melville, SK and Christopher (Raychell) Hudy of Melville, SK; her great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Brooke, Jessica, Brett, Brandon, Brittaney, Ryan, Finley, Micah, Keterah, Layton and Jaiden; her sisters, Anne Burns, Terry Sielski, Linda Karlovich, Irene Lajeunesse and Lucy Kaszonyi; her sisters-in-law, Anne Miskolczi, Margaret Miskolczi, Lizzie Miskolczi and Kazmira Hudy as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many good friends.
