Sylvia Hubic, Sally as she was known to family friends, was born on April 22, 1933, the youngest daughter of nine children born to Yakim and Minnie (nee Malensky) Nahnybida in Arran, SK. She went to school in the Arran district and as a young woman worked in the area as well. Sally was united in marriage to Eugene Hubic on July 20, 1951. They began their married life on the farm near Pelly, SK. Sally and Eugene were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Linda in 1953. Throughout their married life they lived in both MB and SK, but eventually settled in Yorkton and made it their home. Sally was a very hard worker and over the years was employed in a variety of stores including, The Bay, OK Economy and Dominion Stores. For 18 years, she managed the Remco Memorials office in Yorkton. At all of these jobs, she enjoyed working with people and had a friendly smile for everyone - co-workers and customers alike. However, Sally's compassionate nature truly shone through her work with Remco assisting families as they purchased monuments for their loved ones - providing impromptu counselling and care to bereaved families. Sally loved gardening, fishing, picking berries and especially picking mushrooms. She loved cooking and her creamed chicken was enjoyed by everyone. Sally was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband, Eugene; her five sisters, Dorothy, Jean, Olga, Stella and Levina; her three brothers, Myslow, Eugene and Rudy (in infancy); her brothers-in-law, Russell, Alexander, Nester, Walter, Ellis and Glen; her sisters-in-law, Adeline and Nellie and a special niece, Darlene Zihrul. Sally leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her loving and beloved daughter, Linda; sister-in-law, Helen Nahnybida and nephew-in-law, Richard Zihrul; a very special nephew, Orest (Frances) Lukey as well as Eugene's siblings and their spouses, Ron (Dorothy), Orest (Alice), Dan (Phyllis), Mervin (Kay), Alice, Olga (Earl), Adeline (Roy), Anita, Irene (Howard), Ella, Vicky, Vi, Minnie (Bob); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, March 22, 2013 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Kathy Novak serving as the Funeral Celebrant. Special taped music selections included "In The Garden" as sung by Alan Jackson, "Candle in the Wind" as sung by Elton John and "Amazing Grace" as sung by Celtic Woman. The Interment Service followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with John Boulton, Tim Boulton, Kelly Hubic, Orest Hubic, Ben Pangracs and Ron Gable serving as the casket bearers.
