Pauline Hnidey went to her eternal home to be with her Lord on November 7, 2012 at the age of 91 years. Pauline was born in the Springside District on May 30, 1921, the daughter of Nick and Dora (nee Shlahetka) Derow. In 1943 Pauline married Metro Hnidey, after which the couple moved to Ontario to work for a year. Then they moved to Buchanan where they ran a mixed farming operation until 1965 when they bought a house in Buchanan and the couple lived there until Metro's passing in 1992. Pauline continued living there for several more years after which she sold the house and moved into the Seniors Centre in Buchanan for three years. At that time she felt lonely and wanted to move to Springside to be closer to her family. In 2000 Pauline moved into the Heritage Place and began attending Springside Baptist Church where she accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and was baptized. Many of her church friends lived in Heritage Place and she enjoyed their fellowship. In 2008, Pauline's health began to fail and she was hospitalized for some time. At that time, she was unable to care for herself and spent a short time in the Saltcoats Nursing Home before becoming a permanent resident of the Yorkton & District Nursing Home where she resided until her passing. Pauline was predeceased by her parents, Nick and Dora Derow; her sister, Mary, in infancy; her brother, Metro in 1973; her husband, Metro in 1992; her sister-in-law, Olga in 2006; her brother, John in 2008 and her brother, William in 2010. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her sisters-in-law, Annie and Victoria as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from Springside Baptist Church in Springside, SK with Pastor Richard Kauenhofen officiating. The ushers were Mervin Gabert and Hardy Breitkreuz. The organist, Loreen Tillman, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Take The Name of Jesus With You" and "When We All Get To Heaven". Nephew, Nik Derow shared scripture readings as well as words of tribute and life history. Special music was provided by Christel Derow, Geraldine Goltz and Donna Breitkreuz. Following a reception in the lower auditorium of Springside Baptist Church, the Interment Service took place in the Yorkton City Cemetery, Yorkton, SK with Dan Derow, Paul Derow, Nik Derow, Melvin Hnidey, Massey Mizuno and Jerry Borchowitz serving as the casket bearers. Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Christie's Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
