Mr. Clarence Hicks passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2012 while out viewing the crop at Bredenbury. He was 91 years of age. Clare was born on September 25, 1920 in Churchbridge, SK, the son of the late Erwin and Mabel Hicks. On June 23, 1943, Clarence married Alice Wilson and they were blessed with two children, Melvin and Rena. Clarence and Alice resided in Bredenbury until 1998 when Alice passed away. Clarence then moved into Yorkton and resided with his daughter Rena. Clare farmed in the Bredenbury area until his retirement. He also had the dray business with his father Erwin, delivering groceries from the train to the stores, mail from Bredenbury to Esterhazy, coal and wood to the residents, putting ice in the ice house for CPR passenger trains and cutting ice in Saltcoats Lake for the residents of Bredenbury to put in their cisterns. After retiring, Clare and Fred Moore built garden sheds and moved them all over. Clare was predeceased by his wife Alice; parents Erwin and Mabel; sister Evelyn McKee and grandson Corey. He leaves to mourn and to celebrate his life, a son Melvin (Doreen) of Acme, AB; daughter Rena (Wayne) Hoffman of Yorkton; four grandchildren, Darcey Hicks, Tamara (Adrian) Hudy, Collin Hoffman and Melissa Hoffman; seven great grandchildren; brother-in-law Samuel McKee as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Visitation was held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. from Heritage Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Kouenhofen officiating. The organist, Joyce Paul led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Nearer My God To Thee", "Abide With Me" and "The Old Rugged Cross". The soloist, Donna Milbrandt sang a special selection. The Interment Service took place at the Bredenbury Town Cemetery with Darcey Hicks, Fred Moore, Collin Hoffman, Tamara Hudy, Adrian Hudy and Erin McKee serving as pallbearers.
