Mr. Henry Henlisia, beloved husband of the late Lucy Henlisia, died peacefully at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on November 30, 2013. He was 87 years of age. Henry was one of twelve children of Nickola and Tatania (nee Juba) Hnylycia born on the family farm near Hubbard, SK on September 19, 1926. Henry moved away from the farm to Yorkton, SK. It was there that he met Lucy Wolkowski, and eventually married on May 2, 1954. They were blessed with two sons, David and Greg. Originally, Henry started his career as an automobile mechanic. He later switched careers and started to work for the Hudson's Bay Company, where he worked for over 25 years. It was there that he earned a reputation of being a "Mr. Fix It." Whether it was repairing or building new, there was nothing too difficult for Henry to tackle. Henry enjoyed many hobbies. Besides gardening, he enjoyed growing apple trees and fancied himself as quite the arborist. He was also noted for lending a hand to anyone in the neighborhood needing it. Henry was a devout member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Besides being an honorary life time member of the Knights of Columbus, both Lucy and Henry were involved in many church functions along with volunteering for the parish hall. Henry leaves to cherish his memory sons David Henlisia and children Marina, Nicholas, Dylan and Tatiana, Greg (Lanna) Henlisia and children Amanda, Tyler, Erik and Megan; sister Helen (Kurt) Burkert; brother Harry Hnylycia and sister-in-law Olga Hnylycia. He was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Tatiana; wife Lucy on Nov.1, 2013; daughter-in-law Cheryl Henlisia; grandson Connor Henlisia; brothers William, Mike and Joe Hnylycia, Nick (Elsie) Henlisia and Alex Hnylycia; sisters Effie (Mike) Stacyszyn, Mary (Peter) Pazerniuk, Eva (Nick) Feduniw and Anne (Harry) Lashyn and baby Hnylycia in infancy. A Prayer Service was held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton. The Holy Rosary led by members of the Knights of Columbus, Father Delaere Council, #5182 preceded the prayers. The Funeral Liturgy was celebrated on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Ray Lukie, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The responses were led by Ed Pindus, Colette Karapita and St. Mary's Choir Members. Serving as cross & candle bearers were Marina, Megan & Tatiana Henlisia and as the epistle reader was Nestor Trach.
