Paul Hansen was born on the family farm near Theodore on September 27, 1930. He grew up on the farm and stayed there to assist his parents until their retirement. He then continued to operate the family farm until his son took over in 1994. In 1955, Paul married Adella Kucey of Insinger, SK and the couple raised three sons and one daughter. During his lifetime, he was a very active member in the community of Theodore. He served on the board of directors of the local Credit Union and was a committee member of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, Co-operative Association, Curling Club, Theodore Recreation Association and many other local associations throughout his life. He was a very active volunteer in the establishment and construction of the recreation complex that now provides the skating rink, curling rink and the community hall. It was very important to him to provide this center to the youth of Theodore. He was also highly active in his church and played a lead role in the moving of a church building to Springside to better serve the Lutheran congregation there. He and Adella also served Meals on Wheels to Seniors. Paul loved music. In his early teens he acquired a banjo and used to play with his Dad.Then he learned to play the trumpet and was a member of the Theodore Band when it was in its "Hey Day". He had an excellent bass voice and sang in various church choirs and a variety of community musical concerts over the years. He also had an incredible talent for mimicking Shirley Temple singing "On the Good Ship Lollipop". His sense of humour and teasing often played a part in some of those concerts. Paul really enjoyed company and in his spare time he was always up for a game of crib or any card game. Paul also enjoyed sports. In his youth he played hockey and baseball and continued both until he was well into his fifties. He was always slugging the home runs. In his mid years he enjoyed curling in the winter and golf in the summers. Later on, he and Adella enjoyed bowling in the winters and golfing at Good Spirit Golf course in the summers. Paul always had the golf cart ready to go and would head right to the course out the back yard of their cabin at Good Spirit. The Hansen household is full of trophies won at various curling bonspiels and golf tournaments held over the years in regional communities. Paul always looked forward to Theodore Buffalos hockey games. This was most apparent when his sons played on the team. Throughout retirement, lots of his relaxation time was spent watching any baseball, hockey, or Roughrider games on TV. Paul made frequent visits to the farm to check how things were going. He would take the John Deere 4020 out for a load of rocks or just do the crop scouting. He never turned down ride-alongs in the combine or swather and could always be counted on for a ride out to the field. He was proud to see the farm continuing into its fourth generation as the farm was established in 1906 - over a century ago. Having raised four kids, Paul was ready for some more fun and relaxed times with his grandkids. Grandpa was a prankster. From golf balls found in shoes when the kids expected Easter eggs, to catching them mid-air as they jumped from his footstool right on top of him, he was always conjuring up great ways to entertain the children. Paul's main passion was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Adella Hansen; son, Rick (Debbie), son, Garnet (Darlene), son, David, daughter, Debbie (Shawn) Logan, nine grandchildren: Anna Hansen, Kendra (Josh) Hudon, Jessie (Jasen) Louma, Joel Hansen, Korin Hansen, Chelsea Hansen, Kevin Hansen, Chris (Britteny) Hansen, Garrett and Connor Logan; two great-grandchildren, Navy and Mathew; his brother, Chris (Lois), sister, Iris Mackinlay, and a host of nieces and nephews.
