Donald Murray Hanishewsky was born in Canora, SK on December 1, 1952, the son of Michael and Adela Hanishewsky. Don passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, Yorkton, SK with his wife, Linda, by his side. In 1956, Michael and Adele, along with Don moved to Flin Flon, MB. Don attended school in Flin Flon and completed high school there. Once he graduated, Don was employed with the Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Company in Flin Flon. Don worked in the zinc plant, as well as various other departments within the mine. He found his passion as a conductor working on the railroad for the mine. Don then went to work for Canadian National Railway, where he was employed from 1978 until his retirement in August of 2011. When Don was younger, his family spent time at their cabin at Baker's Narrows, Manitoba. Family was the world to Don, and he loved his children, his grandchildren, his parents, as well his brother and his family very much. Don married the love of his life, Linda Seger, on February 2, 2002. Together, they travelled to various places such as Arizona, Mount Rushmore, the Black Hills, Victoria, BC and Flin Flon, MB. Don and Linda loved to travel, especially when they could just pack up and go in their motorhome. Don's true passion was to spend time with Linda, who he loved very much. Don had a heart of gold and was a very kind and gentle man. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all those who had the joy of knowing him. Don was predeceased by his father, Michael Hanishewsky. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his loving wife, Linda; his children, Ronald and Misty; his stepchildren, Trish, Misty and David; his mother, Adele; his brother, Richard (Bonnie) and nephew, Taylor; his grandchildren, Marley, Caden, Alexandra, Adam, Holden, Braden, Emily, Mason, Rylie and Hunter. Don, you were the best husband, father, son and brother anyone could ask for. We love you and miss you - you will be forever in our hearts. A Service of Comfort for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK. The Cremation Committal will take place at a later date. Donations in Don's memory may be made to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency for use at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, Regina, SK (www.saskcancer.ca).
