Nearing a century of life, our Mother died peacefully at 96 years of age on November 27, 2012 at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home. Pauline Guenther was born on May 9, 1916 to Henry and Emilia (nee Buhr) Weber in Rhein, SK. She was the third eldest in a family of eleven siblings. Pauline attended Rhein Elementary School. At the age of 16 years, she gained employment in Yorkton, SK as a maid and nanny. It was here that she gleaned skills in cooking and childcare. On November 4, 1934, at Christ Lutheran Church in Rhein, she married Alex Guenther of the Stornoway area. Their first home was a farm in the Rhein district. In 1940, the family moved to the Tonkin area, where they established a mixed farming operation. Pauline and Alex retired to Yorkton in 1976 to a new home on Sixth Avenue North. Following Alex's death in 1996, Fisher Court became Pauline's home, then a move to Gladstone Assisted Living and later to the Yorkton & District Nursing Home. Pauline is survived by her son Kenneth of Victoria, BC; her three daughters, Trudy (Al) Parnetta of Winnipeg, MB, Jeannette (Allan) Wheeler of Yorkton, SK and Paula (Morley) Maier of Yorkton, SK. She was Grandma to Ken's children, Susan (Jeff) Manke of White Rock, BC and Robert Guenther of Vancouver, BC; Trudy's children, Catherine (Keith) Olsen and Ruth (Dan) Bielak of Winnipeg, MB and Bill (Corie) Parnetta of Sherwood Park, AB; Jeannette's children, Leslie (Tom) Holfeld of Saskatoon, SK, Brian (Sinead) Wheeler of Dundalk, Ireland and Carla (Grant) Laycock of Saltcoats, SK; Paula's children, Jennifer (Jason) Schoenau of Regina, SK, Michael (Tara) Maier and Steven Maier of Saskatoon, SK. Pauline also leaves 15 great-grandchildren, Stephen, Janet and Daniel Minke, Alex and Ashley Olsen, Kaleigh Norquay, Zach and Abby Parnetta, Christine and Sean Holfeld, Jamie and Sarah Wheeler, Alyssa and Jenna Laycock, Jameson, Brennan, Jayden and Nathan Schoenau. In her younger years, Pauline enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and curling. Music was an important part of her life. She sang in the church choir and she and Alex enjoyed dancing. They were long standing members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorkton. Funeral Services were held on Friday, November 30, 2012 from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorkton, SK with Pastor Fred Schneider officiating assisted by Ray and Margaret Anne Yost. Grandson, Michael Maier shared memories of his Grandmother. The organist was Pauline's granddaughter, Carla Laycock, who led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Precious Lord, Take My Hand", "In The Garden", "Make Me a Channel of Your Peace" and "Seek Ye First". The Interment Service followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Leslie Holfeld, Tom Holfeld, Grant Laycock, Michael Maier, Steven Maier and Tara Maier serving as casket bearers.
