Marjorie Ann Gerrard was born on September 9, 1929 in Stornoway, SK., the daughter of Clarence and Annie (nee Sokolowsky) Chandler. The family moved to the Chandler homestead, near Lintlaw,SK. in 1931. During the 1940's, Marjorie moved with her family to the Chandler farm, a few miles from the homestead. Marjorie attended Arden Leigh School, across the road from her family's farm. When she completed her education, Marjorie remained on the family farm to help with her seven younger siblings and work on the farm. In 1946, a new teacher, Everett Gerrard, arrived in the area to teach at Arden Leigh School. At some point, he visited the Chandler farm and met Marjorie. After courting for about a year, Marjorie and Everett were married on June 26, 1946. Over the next five years, Marjorie and Everett moved around the province as he taught in various schools. The summers were spent in the Yukon working for a relative, which both Marjorie and Everett enjoyed very much. In 1953, the couple moved to Everett's family farm near Springside. Marjorie shared the farm work with Everett, as he continued to teach and farm. During these years, Marjorie and Everett started their family. The Gerrard family moved to their family farm near Orcadia in 1964. Marjorie and Everett retired to Springside in 1992 and then moved to Yorkton in 2010. Marjorie and Everett were blessed with five children - Wayne, Vivian, Valerie, Randy, and Douglas. As well as being active with her children, Marjorie was a very hard worker who loved to be outside, in her garden and on the farm. She enjoyed milking cows and tending all the farm animals. Marjorie also loved curling, was very active with the Ebenezer Curling Club and never missed a curling game on television. Both Marjorie and Everett were active in local Seniors' organizations, first in Ebenezer and then Springside. Marjorie saw a need for health screening in the Springside Seniors' group and was key in bringing a Wellness program to Springside and facilitated it until she moved to Yorkton. Marjorie passed away peacefully on Monday, November 11, 2013 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre in Yorkton, SK. Marjorie was predeceased by her father, Clarence in 1986; her mother, Annie in 1989; her husband, Everett in 2012; her sons, Donald in 1955 and Randy in 2011; her sister, Shirley in 1996 and brother, George in 2010.
