Herman Falkenberg, resident of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home, beloved husband of Shirley passed away on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015 at the Nursing Home. He was 90 years of age. Herman Falkenberg was born on September 6, 1924 in Poland. He came to Canada as a young child with his parents, settling in Saskatchewan. He was raised and worked on the farm and eventually acquired his own land. He was married and had three children. On July 20, 1974 he was united in marriage to Shirley Sanderson. After their marriage Herman & Shirley lived in Churchbridge, Herman worked for farmers in the district, and also at the mine, and he also drove school bus for many years. His hobby was bee-keeping, Herman tended to many hives and sold the honey at many locations in Saskatchewan & Manitoba. The couple retired to Yorkton in later years, residing on Jubilee Cres. Needing more constant care, Herman had become a resident of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home, where he had resided until his passing. Besides his wife Shirley, Herman is survived by many other family and extended family members. The funeral service was held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 from Zion Lutheran Church in Yorkton with Rev. Daniel Moeller officiating. Organist, Verna Liebrecht led the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'The Old Rugged Cross', 'Amazing Grace', and 'Jesus, Saviour Pilot Me'. The urn bearer was Norman Heise. The interment at the Springside Cemetery will take place in the spring.
