Edith Evanovich was born on November 10, 1937 at Semans, SK; the youngest of fourteen children born to Horace and Isabelle Cowling. She was raised in Semans and received her education there. On March 15, 1957 she was united in marriage to Paul Evanovich at Regina. The couple took up residence in the Theodore district where they farmed until 1962. Paul then began working as a caterpillar operator, doing road construction, and Edith remained at home raising her family. Tragically, Paul passed away on November 18, 1975 while working on a road in the Homefield district. Following that time Edith continued to reside at Theodore , and was able to maintain her independence until poor health brought her to the Theodore health Care Centre in 2010, where she has since resided. Throughout her years in Theodore, Edith had helped operate a tea house and restaurant, and had also worked at Diana May Clay, doing Ukrainian decaling for the crafts on display there. She also enjoyed doing her own crafts, working on puzzles, and enjoyed the company of her many friends and family. Edith passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Yorkton Regional Heath Centre. She was 76 years of age. Besides her husband Paul, Edith was predeceased by a son Thomas in infancy; a daughter Pauline Quiring; brothers: Walter, Hank, Fred & Jim; sisters: Mary Shaw, Teresa Walker, Doreen Repski, and Ruby Crawford; also two great grandchildren at birth. Edith is survived by her family Sandy (Carla) of Grenfell; Paul (Joyce) of Saskatoon; Teresa (Danny) Mills of Endeavour, SK; and Doug (Launa) of Regina; grandchildren: Danielle, Jamie & Christina; Ethan, Blake; Sheila, John-Paul, Sarah & Tom; Karson, McKayla, Sanderson & Kassie. Also three great grandchildren, Kalie, Mathew & Rebecca; two sisters: Vi Cherney, Dorothy Lake, and a brother, Bert Cowling; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and her many other relatives and friends. A Service of Remembrance to honor Edith's life will take place at the Theodore Cemetery in 2014. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Theodore Health Care Centre for providing such a comfortable and caring place for mom to be; to Dr. Andy Van Heerden and the nursing staff on second south of the Yorkton Hospital for the excellent care given to mom during her stay there; to Mervin and Shirley Guy for all the little things that were done for mom; to Bailey's for carrying out mom's last wishes; and to all the many friends for all the acts of kindness given to mom over the years, God bless you all. Condolences may be left at baileysfuneralhome.com. Memorials in Edith's name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society as tokens of remembrance.
