Severin Essar

Severin Essar passed away peacefully at his home on February 2, 2016. He was 79 years of age. Severin was born on February 14, 1936 in the Theodore District and grew up in Insinger, SK the eldest son of Eugene and Maria (nee Essar). He received his education at the Insinger School, and as a young man Severin worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway. He later received his Journeyman Carpenter Certificate, and his boiler papers. Severin's career began in the carpentry field. After several years, he changed careers and became employed with the Yorkton Public School Division in building maintenance. His final change in career was when he became employed with the City of Yorkton where he later retired from the Public Works Department. Severin enjoyed gardening, carpentry, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends. He most enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren. He was very proud of them all. Severin was predeceased by his parents, Eugene Essar and Maria (nee Essar) Rusnak; an infant son, Dale; and infant grandson, Stephen; two brothers, Zabian and Steve; and by his father and mother-in-law, George and Dora Wasylowich. He leaves to celebrate his life, his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary (nee Wasylowich); his children and grandchildren, MarieAnn (Peter) with Lisa and Nathan, Jerry (Daria) with Nicholas and Mackenzie, Shelley (Cameron) with Riley (Amanda) and Jesse, Gayle (Thomas), Donald (Corrie-Lynn) with Jared and Sarah; and by his brothers, Eugene, and David (Delores); as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday February 6, 2016 from St. Mark The Evangelist Orthodox Church, Yorkton with Reverend Father Rodion Luciuk serving as the Celebrant. Severin's grand-daughter, Sarah served as the Cross bearer. Severin's grandchildren, Lisa and Nathan served as the Honourary Pall bearers. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with son's and grandson's, Jerry, Donald, Riley, Jesse, Nicholas, Mackenzie, Jared, and Cameron serving as the Pall bearers.
