Mrs. Lena Elchuk of the Rhein District, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the age of 93 years. Lena was born in the Verigin District, the daughter of Mike and Anne Koroluk. She received her education at Louzan School. In 1945 she was united in marriage to Metro Elchuk and they began their married life together farming in the Hampton area. This would be Lena's home for the rest of her days, where she celebrated the birth of their son, Barry in 1952; mourned the death of her husband, Metro in 1996 and lived all the other joys and hardships of her life. She enjoyed the farm life, gardening, visiting and the daily drive to Rhein for coffee. Cooking was one of her joys, her passion was to take meals to the field and discuss progress, either seeding or harvesting. Her family and friends were a very important part of her life. Lena was predeceased by her husband, Metro; daughter-in-law, Audrey and sisters, Pauline and Elnor. She leaves to mourn her passing and celebrate her life, her son, Barry and his friend, Mary; her brother, John Koroluk; sisters, Myrna Cozma, Margaret Koroluk and Elaine O'rouke, many nieces, nephews, good friends and neighbours. She is also survived by a very special person, with whom Lena had recently reconnected, Dianne Swintak. A Prayer Service was held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Pastor Richard Gibson officiating. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, January 23, 2015, also from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Gibson officiating. The organist, Amanda Buhler, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Amazing Grace", "Jesus Loves Me" and "Blessed Assurance". The Interment Service followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery, Yorkton, SK with Jeff Kelbaugh, Kyle Kelbaugh, Brett Kelbaugh, Frank Tomick, Larry Lee and Craig Filipchuk serving as the casket bearers.  The Honourary Pall Bearers were John Koroluk, Arnie Boehm, Glen Koroluk, Glen Filipchuk, Tim Kelbaugh, Kevin Elchuk and special thanks to Dianne Swintak.
