Garry Ray Dutchak was born on May 11, 1958 to Ron and Raymonde Dutchak in Montmarte SK. As a child, Garry was a real BOY. He was always hurting himself, playing sports, and getting into trouble. He received his education in Glenavon, SK till the age of 13 then finished his schooling in Maryfield, SK. In 1976, Garry and RoseMarie moved to Bredenbury, SK where they had two children, Chastity in 1976 and Ryan in 1981. Garry worked with the CP Railway for a year then went to the Pipeline in Alberta. In 1977 he started his career with Mosaic Potash Mine. He started his career with Mosaic as a Labourer. In 1981 he was promoted to a staff position as K1 Mine Production Supervisor. In 1997, he was promoted to the Environment, Health, and Safety Department, initially as Training Supervisor, then Administrator and Training Superintendent. Since 2011, till the time of his passing, Garry had been leading the Environment, Health, and Safety Management System Project. Garry loved his job and all the people that he worked with. In 2001, Garry met Helen and they were married in 2003. Helen brought with her, her daughter, Kirstin who Garry loved like his own. Garry loved his Grandchildren. They always brought a smile to his face. He loved to tease them and tell them stories - most of which were not true - just to get a reaction. Garry loved to work in the yard. He loved to plant flowers and loved to build new creations. He was very meticulous about the way things were done in the yard. It had to be done just right. He loved sports, especially hockey. Hockey was his passion. Garry was a techy. He had to have every new toy that came out. He loved to show anybody that would show the tiniest bit of interest the latest and greatest technology. He also loved to read. You could always catch him with his nose in a book. Garry caught the travel bug in 2005, when he and Helen travelled to Mexico for the first time. After that trip he was hooked and they went on HOT holidays every winter. Garry was very involved with his community. He coached the Cougars Senior Hockey Team for many years. In 1983, he got involved with the Town Council serving as a Councillor and as Mayor afterwards for 12 years. Garry was predeceased by his Grandparents, Nick and Mary Dutchak, Fred and Auralie Veilleux and his mother in law, Hilda Friedrich. Garry is survived by his loving wife Helen; his daughter, Chastity Andrusiak and her husband, Daryl and their children, Brooklynn, Abbigale and Nicholas of Kamsack, SK; his son, Ryan Dutchak and his wife, Susan and their children, Tori, Erika and Taylor of Birch Hills, SK; his daughter, Kirstin of Regina, SK; his parents, Ron and Raymonde Dutchak of Regina, SK; his sister, Lynette Pascal and her husband, Gerry and their children, Madison and Mackenzie of Regina, SK; his sister, Chandelle Johnson and her husband, Devin and their children, Bailey and Adair of Regina, SK; his sister in law, Betty Fontaine and her husband, Marcel of Winnipeg, MB; his sister in law, Rositha Jeanson and her husband, Rheal of Lorette, MB; his brother in law, Frank Friedrich and his partner, Liz of Winnipeg, MB; his father in law, Frank Friedrich of Winnipeg, MB as well as many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends. He will be forever missed. A Service of Remembrance was held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 from the Bredenbury Community Hall in Bredenbury, SK with Mr. Fred Nicholson officiating. Words of tribute and eulogy were shared by Nelson Wright and Tori Dutchak. The Urn Bearers were Garry's grandson, Nicholas Andrusiak and granddaughters, Brooklynn and Abbigale Andrusiak and Tori, Erika and Taylor Dutchak. A private family cremation committal will follow at a later date. Donations in Garry's memory may be made to the Cardiac Care Unit of the Regina General Hospital, Regina, SK (The Hospitals of Regina Foundation www.hrf.sk.ca).
