Glen Lowall Dreger

Glen Lowall Dreger was born August 13, 1945, the son of Paul and Martha (nee Petersen) Dreger at Yorkton, SK. He was the second of four children and was raised on the family homestead west of Ebenezer district. He attended West Ebenezer School, and at age thirteen he accepted Christ into his life at the Ebenezer Baptist Church. In 1959, his parents and family moved to the farm one mile south of Ebenezer. There he helped his parents on the farm; he also worked on the gravel crusher at McKim, on the number nine highway, as a meat cutter for Midwest Packers and in later years was successful with his Watkins Business. In 1968 Glen bought and took over the farm and was proud to call it home; a place to raise his family. Glen married Sharon Hanson on April 10, 1971 and together they were blessed with six children, Wade, Heath, Jaret, Loni, Tanis and Ashley. Glen was passionate about farming, his cattle, loved board games especially Crokinole, card games, had an unending faith with God, but most of all he loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed telling long stories over a coffee and playing tricks on people when he could. In 2005 Glen retired, and was able to spend that time on what he loved doing. He went on many hunting trips with friends and family over the years. Glen was always up for the adventure. In 2012, on his last hunting outing, he finally scored himself a big bull elk. Fishing was his other passion, and he loved to fish at Tobin Lake with his wife, kids and friends. In his lifetime, Glen had the opportunity to travel to such places as: Bahamas, Mexico, Yellowknife, Las Vegas, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Luxemburg, Germany and various places in Canada and the United States; lots of memories were made. The one thing that could always make Glen's eyes light up and make him smile were his grandchildren. Glen was blessed with eight grandchildren and with a little one on the way. They loved singing to him, playing games, crawling up on his lap to be held, going for ice cream and called him papa. Glen passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the Regina General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was 70 years of age. Glen will be forever remembered for his big generous heart, his love of life and the great outdoors. Glen was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Martha and one infant sister, Myra. He leaves to mourn his passing and to celebrate his life, his loving wife, Sharon; his three sons, Wade (Naomi) of Chestermere and their children, Tristyn, Jessica and Zoie; Heath (Jasmine) of Yorkton; Jaret (Cathy) of Chestermere and their children, Rory, Oliver and baby on the way; his three daughters, Loni (Colin) Parks of Yorkton and their children, Hudson, Rowen and Mya; Tanis of Calgary; Ashley of Calgary; his two brothers, Duane (Darlene) and Darryl (Beth); and one sister, Lois (Stan) Hiller as well as many nieces, nephews, numerous other relatives, friends and neighbours. A Visitation for Family and Friends was held on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, February 5, 2016 from Ebenezer Baptist Church with Reverend Richard Gibson and Reverend Kendall Buhler officiating. A video presentation was also shared as a pictorial celebration of Glen's life. The organist, Amanda Buhler, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Great is Thy Faithfulness" and "Because He Lives" as well as "I'd Rather Have Jesus" as the recessional. Special music was shared by daughters, Loni and Ashley who sang, "Daddy's Hands" and son, Wade who sang, "Love Without End, Amen". The Interment Service followed in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Ebenezer, SK with Lance Dreger, Derek Hanson, Travis Patzer, Mark Froese, Morris Elfenbaum, Ralph Strand, Eddy Dreger and Dennis Kriger serving as the casket bearers. All of Glen's grandchildren were named as honourary pall bearers because as Glen said, "Even when my grandchildren are not in my arms, on my lap, or in my home, they are in my heart and there they will stay forever".
