Ronald John Vincent "Vince" Dingwall

Ronald John Vincent "Vince" Dingwall beloved husband of Helen of Yorkton passed away in the Yorkton Regional Hospital on January 12, 2016 after a bout with cancer. Vince was born April 9, 1929 in Chancellor, AB to Duncan and Isabella (MacKintosh) Dingwall, the youngest of 9 children. Vince served in the Canadian Army "C" Battery 3 R.C.H.A. working from a Private to the rank of Sergeant (Sgt) from 1947 to 1955 which included a tour of duty in Korea as a Peacekeeper and an Honour Guard for Queen Elizabeth in Winnipeg in 1955. From July, 1955 to February, 1956 worked as a Master Warrant Officer at the Yorkton Armouries 53 Field Regiment. Received the United Nations Service Medal and on July 1, 1967 received the 100th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada Centennial Medal in recognition of valuable service to the nation. Shortly after his military service, Vince started employment with Canadian National Railroad as a Fireman eventually moving up to a Locomotive Engineer working throughout Western Canada. He retired in 1990 after 34 years of service. Vince is predeceased by his parents; brothers Duncan, Alexander (Lily) & Charles; sisters Elizabeth, Murdina, Catherine, Margaret & Isabella. He leaves to celebrate his life his wife Helen; his daughter Shirley (Bill) Miller; his son Ronald (Linda) Dingwall; numerous step-grandchildren/great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. Vince enjoyed travelling with the motorhome especially down south in the winter to Texas, Arizona & Mexico. Other travel included Hawaii, Germany, France, Spain and Â鶹´«Ã½AV America. He also enjoyed camping with his family, golfing, watching baseball, square dancing, gardening and watching his numerous nieces and nephews sporting activities. Sincere thanks to the amazing staff on Unit 1 East at the Yorkton Regional Hospital for their care of Vince. The funeral service was held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Deborah Smith of Westview United Church officiating. Pianist, Amanda Buhler led the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'Amazing Grace' and 'Lord of the Dance'. The recessional hymn was 'Softly and Tenderly, Jesus is Calling'. Son Ron and daughter Shirley gave tributes to their father. The interment took place in the Garden of Memories Columbarium with son Ron as the urn bearer.
