Mrs. Sophie Bukoros of Yorkton, wife of Johnny Bukoros entered eternal rest on April 24, 2015 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre at the age of 90 years. Sophie (Neriuoka) Bukoros was born on September 15, 1924 in the Stornoway district, a daughter to Kasian and Irene (nee Tataryn) Woloschuk. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at Angove School. On July 14, 1942 Sophie was united in marriage to Steve Neriuoka. The couple were blessed with five children and farmed in the Wroxton district. Sophie worked tirelessly on the farm, raising turkeys, geese, chickens and helped out with the livestock. She was fond of the baby calves. She grew a large garden and enjoyed cooking, baking, did knitting and sewing for her family in the winter months. Everyone enjoyed her cooking and she made sure there was always enough to eat. In 1972 following her husband Steve's passing Sophie left the farm and moved to Yorkton where she was employed at the hospital as a cook. In 1973 she married John Bukoros in Yorkton. John was her soul mate and best friend. They spent their honeymoon in Toronto and Niagra Falls. After six years being employed at the hospital Sophie acquired a clerking position at Zellers and soon became a department head of three departments. During this time she wrote a Real Estate Exam and subsequently became a Realtor with Century 21. She was one of the top sales people and received many awards for her dedicated work. She loved working with people and was very successful and well liked. Sophie and John had many good times together and did a lot of travelling including their touring throughout the United States. They enjoyed camping, fishing and spent time in many parks with their camper trailer. In 1990 Sophie and her friend Iris Derenowski toured fourteen countries in Europe, spending three enjoyable weeks. Sophie and John were parishioners of Holy Transfiguration Church in Yorkton for many years. She was a member of the Ukrainian Women's Association of Canada and the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxillary. She will be remembered for her dedication and hard work. Predeceased by her first husband Steve (1972), her parents (1976), son Steven (2014) loving sister Annie (1996) twin brother Peter and brothers Steve, Andrew, John and Bill; Sophie leaves to cherish her memory, husband John, daughters Sonja and Diane; sons Nick and Dennis (Gloria); her many grandchildren; two great grandchildren Brooke and Brandon; daughter-in-law Jackie; sister-in-law Stella (Marion) Diakow and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. A Prayer Service was held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 and the Funeral Service on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. The responses were led by Gerald Yaholnitsky & Parish Choir Members. Serving as the cross bearer was Myrna Yury. All of Sophie's dear friends were considered Honourary Pallbearers. Members of the Ukrainian Women's Association, Olena Pchilka Branch participated in an honour guard. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Calvin Yury,  Sheldon Yury, Harold Woloschuk, Ray Lusney, Kelly Woloschuk and Henry Honcia serving as the casket bearers.
