Donald Robert Bugoy passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home - Jowsey House with friends and family by his side. Donald was 69 years of age. Donald was born on June 3, 1947 to Alphonse and Nettie (nee Dobko) Bugoy. Donald grew up on the family farm east of Otthon alongside many cousins, family members and friends in the small, close knit community. Donald attended Otthon School until Grade 10. At the age of 18, Donald decided that he didn't want to be a farmer, so he boarded a CN train to Vancouver. In Vancouver, he worked in a sawmill for a couple of months. He soon discovered that Vancouver was too big for him so he boarded a bus for Dawson Creek, BC. There he found work at a meat market and was employed there for four years. He then moved to Valleyview, AB where he worked in the oilfields. Donald met Barbara Hobbs in Valleyview and they were united in Matrimony in 1972. In 1973, Donald and Barbara moved to Kamloops, BC where Donald began work with CN Rail. In 1978, were blessed with the birth of their son, Jason. In 1980 Donald and Barbara decided to part their ways. After a period of time Donald met Brigitte Schenk and they were united in Matrimony in 1983. Donald and Brigitte were blessed with the birth of their son, Daniel in 1984. Donald and his family moved to Smithers, BC where Donald worked until his retirement. In 2006, Donald and Brigitte decided to move to Yorkton to be closer to family. He enjoyed helping his brother, Walter on the farm, driving his team of horses and walking his dogs. Donald's health began to fail in 2014 and he was diagnosed with ALS in 2015. As Donald's health failed he grew to very much appreciate the emotional support of family, friends and various health care supports, especially his Home Care Nurse, Val Edwards. Donald cherished the love and support of his beloved wife, Brigitte. He will always love her. Donald is predeceased by his parents, Alphonse and Nettie in 1991 and his sister, Helen in 1969. Donald leaves to celebrate his life his loving wife, Brigitte; his sons,Daniel, Jason (Emily) and their children, Lucas, Kingston and Dean andMarcus (Karen); his brother, Walter and by many relatives and countless friends. Donald's family would especially like to thank friends, Dorothy McCuaig and Carol Martin who helped Brigitte maintain Donald in his home until January 2016 when he required the care of the Yorkton & District Nursing Home - Jowsey House. Very special thanks to the staff of the Nursing Home and to Charlene Molyneux with the Palliative Care Program of the Sunrise Health Region. The mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church with Reverend Father Francis Hengen serving as the Celebrant with Tom Pasloski and Orest Machushek serving as the Altar Servers. The pianist, Chris Fisher along with members of the parish choir led the congregation in the responses and the singing of the hymns, The Lord Is My Shepherd, Psalm 116, The Prayer of St. Francis, Be Not Afraid, Song of The Angels, and How Great Thou Art. Donald's son, Marcus served as the Cross bearer with his son, Jason and his brother, Walter, serving as the Bearers of the Holy Gifts. The First Reading was read by Shirley Araneda and the Second Reading was read by Bonnie Osicki. Donald's son, Daniel served as the Urn bearer with Shirley Araneda, Bonnie Osicki, Jeanette Baziuk, Linda Carss, Emily Bugoy and Karen Bobyk serving as the Honourary Urn bearers. As a charitable expression of sympathy those wishing to remember Donald Bugoy may do so with a gift to the ALS Society of Saskatchewan, #90C Cavendish Street, Regina, SK, S4N 5G7. www.alssask.ca.
