Samuel Joseph Buffalo was born on March 18, 1962 in Lestock, SK, the son of Frank and Flossie (nee Scott) Buffalo. He was raised on the Day Star Reserve and in Regina, SK. However, he had been living in Yorkton for the last 15 years with his loving and beloved wife of 26 years, Marilyn. Sam was an expert carpenter for most of his life, and after becoming ill he spent his days using those same skills, fixing and building the church on Broadway Street, which is now the Yorkton Christian Fellowship. Sam was a very dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, who gave much of his time and talents to the church. Sam loved his wife and children, and his grandchildren were very close to his heart. Sam was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Flossie; his siblings, Percy Scott, James Scott, Helen Scott, Linda Fisher and Marie Buffalo; his daughter, Heather Lynn Gordon and his father-in-law, Lawrence Brass. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his wife, Marilyn; his children, Talia (Colter) Goodwill, Lyndon (Brittney) Asapace, Shaun Buffalo, Wayne (Janna) Gordon, Deanna Gordon, Lawrence Gordon and Brian Gordon; special grandsons, Junior Goodwill, Misun Goodwill and Landon Asapace; special granddaughters, Jordan Asapace and Jaycee Asapace; his sisters, Inez Strongquill and Muriel Starr as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends. The Wake commenced on Friday, October 10, 2014 from the Yorkton Christian Fellowship, Yorkton, Saskatchewan. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, October 11, 2014, also from the Yorkton Christian Fellowship with Pastor Spencer Strongquill officiating. The Interment Service followed in the Day Star First Nation Cemetery, near Punnichy, Saskatchewan. The casket bearers were Colter Goodwill, Thomas Strongquill, Shaun Buffalo, Wayne Gordon, Garrett Buffalo, Keith Buffalo and Kelly Buffalo. The honourary pallbearers were Pastor Edmond Jordan, Brother Raymond Jordan, Eric Jordan, Pastor Melvin Stevenson, Pastor Spencer Strongquill, Cameron Keshane, Shirley Pelletier, Irene Nepinak, Chief Lloyd Buffalo, Clarence Kapay, Leon Kinequon, Dennis Kinequon, Howie Buffalo, Delbert Kinequon as well as the nurses and patients in the Dialysis Unit of the Yorkton Regional Health Centre.
