William Rudolf Bucsis passed away April 6, 2014 in Melville, SK after a short stay in hospital. He was 89 years old. William was born April 28, 1924 in the Otthon district to Steve and Esther (Jurisho) Bucsis. He attended East Otthon School and lived in the Otthon district most of his life. Life presented many challenges as his mother died at a young age. Willie lived with his older brothers and sisters and grew up working on the farm. Later, he moved to Ontario where he worked with his brother, Jim. He returned home and enlisted in the war effort and served in the medical core in Calgary and Vancouver Island. After the war, he returned home to farm with his father. On July 24, 1958 he married Nellie Barber at St. Andrew's United Church in Yorkton, SK. They raised three children (Sharon, Greg, Garth) and continued farming at Otthon. They grew grain and raised all kinds of livestock- a true mixed farm. They farmed for forty four years until 2002, when they sold their cattle. Farming was a way of life and not a job for Willie and Nellie. Willie volunteered many hours with various organizations. He was a life member of the Otthon hall. He was a member of the Yorkton Horse Shoe Club and was long time sponsor of 4-H Beef and Sheep clubs. He was a member of the Yorkton Exhibition and became a director and then was inducted into the Yorkton Exhibition Senate in 1998. Willie loved people and any opportunity to socialize. He enjoyed attending auctions as well as horse and cattle sales. Most of the time visiting was more important than the sale. Willie had an exceptional sense of humor and anyone who met him soon figured that out. He had a lot of history stored in his memory and when asked could usually come up with the answer. Willie was predeceased by his brothers, Julius and James; his sisters, Emma, Rose, Agnes and Gracie. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nellie; his daughter, Sharon; his sons, Greg (Kim) and Garth (Dawn); his granddaughter, Tanycia and great granddaughter, Lacey. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home with Reverend Jen Dresser from St. Andrews United Church officiating. The Pipers, Ferne Katzberg and Dave Gillard played processional and recessional music. The organist was Ruth McPhee and Lyle Walsh shared words of tribute and eulogy. Three special taped musical selections were played; "Where Could I Go But to the Lord", "Power in the Blood of the Lamb" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere". Legion Funeral Rites were conducted with Pastor Richard Gibson serving as the Padre, the Sergeant-at-Arms was Peter Wyatt, the Color Party was Ed St. Pierre, Russell Bischop, George Arnold, Fred Bodnaryk and other members of the General Alexander Ross Branch #77 of the Royal Canadian Legion. The Interment Service followed in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Barry Bucsis, Doug Crow, Richard Heroux, Brent Molnar, Gordon Rhinas and Lyle Walsh serving as the casket bearers.
