It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Jean Bruce at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 12, 2012. This remarkable woman was born May 25, 1949 in Langenburg, SK, the youngest of four children, moments after her beloved twin sister. The Bruce's were a farming family, starting out near Churchbridge then later settling near Saltcoats where Linda spent her childhood. Linda was devoted to her mother, Norma and they experienced countless adventures together. They shared a passion for gardening and a love of their Scottish heritage. She loved entertaining and was often surrounded by her many close friends and special family members. Her joy was to travel and visit with her children and grandchildren in B.C. and Alberta. In her thirties Linda began her rewarding 25 year career with the Department of Highways. The past 21 years were spent living at her dream acreage west of Yorkton. She and her partner Bob had many happy years there together. Linda is survived, loved and will be missed by her partner, Bob Bavalis; her mother, Norma Bruce; her sister, Mae Sauser; her three daughters, Laura (Greg) Wegner, Camille (Kelvin) Bartsch, Kelly (Trevor) Pescod; her grandchildren, Mandy, Melissa, Landon, Miranda, Tanner, Megan, Mallory, Jamie and her great grandson, Mason. She will also be mourned by her many close cousins, nieces and nephews, family members and wonderful friends. Linda was predeceased by her daughter, Wendy Holland; her brother, Ewan Bruce; her father, Joseph Bruce; her sister, Sheila Renaud and her brother-in-law, Tony Sauser. A Memorial Service was held on Friday, December 28, 2012 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Reverend Walter Farquharson presiding. Linda's nephew, Gary Sauser, shared words of tribute and eulogy. A special taped music selection, "Never Alone" as sung by the Rankin Family was played. The recessional music was provided by the piper, Ferne Katzberg who played, "Road to the Isles". Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Christie's Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
