Shirley Elizabeth Bradford (Oliver); May 16 1928 - January 7 2013. It is with great sadness that Shirley's family announce her passing at St. Paul's hospital, Palliative Care Unit, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 84. Shirley was born and raised in the Perley district of Saltcoats in Â鶹´«Ã½AV East Saskatchewan. It was in Saltcoats where she met and married her husband Barney Bradford and they raised their two sons Terry and Brent. She loved to tend to her garden and keep everyone well fed. She was the caregiver to many, and had a close-knit group of lifelong friends that regularly enjoyed doing puzzles, playing cards and drinking tea. Moving to Saskatoon after beating cancer in 2001 she became an integral part of the community at Eamer Court, immersing herself in social events and making special friends. She enjoyed gardening and keeping up on the latest events. Shirley always had a puzzle on the go in the Activities Room and she continued her love of cards, games and reading. She looked forward to letters and visits from her sons and their wives, phone calls from her 5 grandchildren and enjoyed looking at pictures and bragging about her 11 great grandchildren. Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Barney and siblings Hazel, Merle and Verne. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her family: sons Terry (Karen King) and Brent (Doreen Torrie); grandchildren, Chris (Kara), Amy Gordon (Ken), Cory (Shari), Evan (Kendra), Joanna Usselman (Chris), 11 great grandchildren, sisters, Jean Heinrich (Joe), May Bradford (Bob), sister-in-law, Lois Oliver, her many nieces, nephews and dear friends. A Prayer Service was held from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home, in Yorkton, SK on Friday January 11, 2013 with Reverend Walter Farquharson officiating. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from the Saltcoats United Church with Reverend Walter Farquharson officiating. The Interment Service followed in the Saltcoats Town Cemetery with Gordon Oliver, Dave Hume, Delmar Morgan, Joe Heinrich, Evan Bradford and Amy Gordon serving as casket bearers.
