Precious Jill Borden (Sereda) of the Tupper District, Saltcoats area, passed away peacefully with family at her side at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, Yorkton, Monday September 1, 2014 after a very sudden, brief illness. Precious was born August 7, 1944, the only child of John and Mary (Kondro) Sereda of the Fitzmaurice/Jedburgh area. She attended Forestnook School to Grade 8, attended Yorkton Collegiate for Grades 9 to 12, and then a Legal Secretary Course in Regina. She continued to work there until she married. On July 8, 1967, she was united in marriage to Ken Borden of Tupper District. They took up residence on Bonnie Doon farm where they farmed with Ken's parents. They were blessed with three children, Brenda, Dale and Kevin. Precious continued to work in Yorkton. Playing crib was a favorite past time and many hands were played early mornings before heading off to work. Precious was a loving, caring mother and grandmother. She was an avid gardener, growing produce for preserving and pickling. Being a farm girl at heart she enjoyed the harvest and was known for her swathing skills and hauling grain. She had a great love for cats and dogs. After Ken's passing in 1995 she remained on Bonnie Doon with her faithful four legged friends. She continued to work in Yorkton as well as taking care of the farmyard and her chickens providing eggs to all the neighbors. Unfortunately the wild critters decided Bonnie Doon farm was a good place to be. The raccoons and skunks thought cat food was good fare. Precious put up a target and learned to shoot a gun. Many laughs were had over her stories of trying to rid the yard of these critters in her nightgown and rubber boots. The neighbors affectionately dubbed her "Annie Oakley". She was also known for her exceptional baking. Her family enjoyed her lemon meringue pies and poppy seed cakes. Mrs. B, as she was known to the neighbor kids, made the best cookies! Later on she attended Dunleath Presbyterian Church, which she had shown support for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Aid helping will all functions, bake sales, teas and fall suppers. Precious was predeceased by her husband, Ken in 1995, her mother, Mary in 1984, her Dad, John in 2003, mother in-law, Mabel in 1989, father in-law, Carl in 1979, nephews, Don McDougall in 1976 and Brent McDougall in 2011, sisters-in-law, Joan and Donna, and numerous aunts and uncles on both sides of the family. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her daughter, Brenda (Elliott) Barrow of Barbados; sons, Dale (Natasha Nachbaur) of Prince Albert and Kevin (Bri) of Yorkton. Three grandchildren, Nathan Barrow, Jordyn Nachbaur-Borden and Wyatt Borden-Nachbaur who affectionately called her "Gramma B". Also brothers in-law, John of Toronto, Bruce (Sherry) of Swift Current, sister in-law, Mary (Bert) McDougall of Yorkton; nephews, Greg and Jeff Borden and their families. Precious will be sadly missed by those she touched along life's way: her children, grandchildren, extended family, friends and neighbors. Her kindness made the world a better place. She believed "happiness does not come from the house but the people in it". A Prayer Service was held on Friday, September 5, 2014 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Reverend Devon Pattemore officiating. Reverend Pattemore also led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Rock of Ages" and "Onward Christian Soldiers". The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home with Reverend Devon Pattemore officiating. The organist, Shani Apland, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Amazing Grace", "Softly and Tenderly" and "The Lord of the Dance". The Interment Service followed in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Barry Novak, Peter Novak, Jason Novak, Grant Novak, Elliott Barrow and Richard Yaremko serving as the casket bearers.
