Effie Boehm

With great sadness the family of Effie Boehm announces the peaceful passing on February 3, 2016 of our mother, grandmother and special friend to brother-in-law Arnie. Effie was born on May 7, 1925 in the Stornoway district of Saskatchewan; the youngest of nine children born to Theodore and Martha (nee Gnyp) Koroluk.  She was raised on the family farm and attended the New Canadian School. On December 16, 1946 she was united in marriage to Rheinhold Boehm. This union was blessed with two sons, Larry Kenneth and Bobby Daniel. In 1960 Rheinhold and Effie took over the family farm three miles east of Rhein. In January of 1983 Rheinhold passed away and following that time Effie remained on the farm. She was an avid gardener, she loved her flowers and enjoyed feeding the humming birds that frequented her yard during the summer months. In the summer, the summer kitchen was like a café, anyone who came to the farm were given coffee along with her wonderful baking. She loved to have people visit and there was a lot of card playing during the evenings. As her health declined Effie eventually became a resident of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home in November of 2009, where she had resided until her passing. Besides her husband Rheinhold in 1983, Effie was predeceased by her parents Theodore (1949) and Martha (1969); son Bobby (1995); brothers William (1989), John (1995), Alex (2005) and Nick Koroluk (1998) and by sisters Annie Rapchuk (1965), Mary Andrusiak (2005) and Lena Derkatch (1997). Effie leaves to cherish her memory her son Larry & his wife Joan of Regina; grandchildren: Rhonda (Fred) Osipoff of Regina and Craig (Chantelle) Boehm of Regina; her friend & companion Arnie; one brother, Mike (Nellie) Koroluk of Yorkton; numerous nieces, nephews and her many other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Thursday, February 18, 2016 from Christ Lutheran Church in Rhein with Rev. Karen Stepko officiating. Organist, Vange Shipowick  led the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'How Great Thou Art', 'Just As I Am' and 'Amazing Grace'. The interment followed in the Christ Lutheran Parish Cemetery with Neil & Nelson Matechuk, Robbie McDougall, Derek Boehm, and Adrian & Jerry Koroluk serving as the casket bearers. Condolences can be left at baileysfuneralhome.com. Memorials were to the Alzheimer's Society or Church Memorial Fund.
