Sandra Lynn Blommaert was born on February 7, 1952. She passed away peacefully on October 7, 2012
following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Sandra was raised on the family farm on the outskirts of Yorkton. She graduated from the Yorkton Regional High School in 1970 and continued on with her education at the University of Regina. Later, she transferred to the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree. She taught in an elementary school for over 30 years in Nipawin, Saskatchewan. Sandra was a dedicated teacher and was much loved by her little grade one students. Sandra's summer holidays were spent helping out on the family farm and organizing various projects for her family to do. She enjoyed baking and reading. She loved taking long walks and traveling with her sister, Dianna. Sandra spoiled family pets and never missed her regular Saturday morning breakfast with her good friends in Nipawin. Sandra was predeceased by her father, Wilfred in 2006. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her mother, Leah; her sister, Dianna; her brother, Wayne (Chantal and Stephanie), many cousins and friends. The Memorial Service was held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 from the First Baptist Church in Yorkton, Saskatchewan with Pastor Steve Rosluk officiating. The organist, Karen DeLong, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Precious Lord, Take My Hand". Special music was provided by John and Judy Ward who sang "Just a Closer Walk With Thee". The urn bearer was Sandra's brother, Wayne Blommaert.
