Annie Beck was born on July 26, 1922 to Michael Nowitski and Magdeline (Maggie) Nyckolyschen and was born, raised and went to school at Runnymede, SK. She was united in marriage to George Beck on November 15, 1942. They farmed in the Wroxton area and were blessed with six children. Times were tough with no power or running water. Annie was a hard worker. She had to plant a large garden, then canned jars and jars of vegetables and fruit. She milked cows, and raised chickens so there was always eggs, milk, butter and cheese to feed the family. In 1963, Annie and George bought a house in Wroxton, then later sold the farm. Annie still had a garden, enjoyed baking, perogy making bees and coffee with friends. George passed away September 15, 1978. Annie continued to live in Wroxton until she sold the house in 1994. She then moved to Montmartre and in 2002 moved to Norquay. Annie was active in church and the senior centre and enjoyed playing cards. Annie did a little travelling, taking one of her grandchildren with her. Later, Annie's health started to decline and brought about many stays in hospitals, private care homes and a few weeks in long tern care. Annie passed away February 14, 2012 with her family by her side. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. "Baba" was special to all the young children. Annie was predeceased by her husband George, father, mother, brothers Steve and Alex, sisters Irene and Mary, a sister in infancy, and son-in-law Bob Johnston. Annie is survived by her six children; Olga (Les) Dutka, Diane Johnston, Iris (Vern) Nokinsky, Sonja (Ken) Filipowich, Harry (Patti) Beck and Tony (Laura) Beck; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; brother, Fred Nowitski; sisters, Nellie (Pete) Rusyn and Julia Kelor; numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and extended families.
