It is with great sadness the family of Fred Baziuk announce his passing on August 22, 2013 at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home. He was 97 years of age. Fred was born on June 22, 1916 on NE 34-28-08-2 (Theodore-Insinger district); the fourth child of Natasha (nee Berzonski) & John Baziuk. He attended the Lysenko School and at an early age ventured down east to Hamilton to work. With the outbreak of World War II Fred returned home to the farm. He did many jobs in his working years, working for the RM of Insinger #275; for Merriman Construction; and for many years with the Department of Highways, bridge crew. He retired in 1981. In his retirement years Fred loved to work in the bush, he cut wood regularily until he was past 87 years. He also participated in the Threshermen's Day with his horses and son Alexander's help. He had enjoyed good health but was in need of further care and had just recently became a resident of the Yorkton & District Nursing Home. He married Elsie Decooney on November 23, 1952, and they were blessed with six children, four girls and two boys, twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.Predeceased by his parents, an infant sister Marie; step-father Wasyl Korolek; sister Helen Stinka; brothers William, Nick, Harry & half-brother Matt Korolek; also sons-in-law Kim Steiner & Harvey Chernipeski. Fred leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory his wife of 60 ½ years, Elsie (also a resident of the Yorkton & District Nursing Home); two sons: Bill (Jill Eyelofson) and his son Jason & fiance' Heather; Alexander (Roseann) & their children: James (Marcia), Joleen Hall (Franklin) & their children Austin & Destiny, and Natasha (Jody Kachur) and their children Shevy & Ferrari; four daughters: Marie Steiner & her daughter Tanice Remenda (Neil) & their daughter Caitlyn; Patricia and her children Gwenda Gara (Les) & their children Kirsten, Johnathon & Joey; Crystal, Ryan & Kyle Marianchuk; Eileen Baziuk & her daughter Tammy (Neil Rode) & their children Brittney, Bryce & Brooke; and Betty Walker (Garry) & their children Sara and her son Kade, and Candice (Matthew Shindel); also numerous nieces, nephews and his many other relatives and friends. Friends are invited to gather for a memorial service to celebrate Fred's life on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 3:00pm at the Theodore Town Cemetery. Crystal Bailey, B.Th. will officiate.
